COTTON.—Our market opened on Wednes day i.asl with a fair demand, which continued up %" Friday, when it fell off, and from that time up <u Monday the sales were in favor of buyers, hold er* in order to realize being compelled to submit to a slight reduction, say i a I cent on all quali ties. On Monday, howevwr, holders manifested less disposition to sell at current rates, and the transactions were limited. Yesterday, a better demand sprung up, aud buyers and sellers met mure freely,—the sales were to a fair extent, and in most instances the ruling rates of Wednesday laitt were obtained. The sales of the week, as lar they have been reporled*.to us, sum up about 5131 bale* as follows: 53 at Si, 40 at Mr, 510 at 9, 51 at 9 1-16. 3% at Hi, 87 at 9 3-16, 742 at 9f, 43 at 9 5-16, 99-1 at 91, II2S at 9i, 21 at 9 9-16, 493 at 9i, 577 at 91. 23 at 9 13-16, 82at9i,1G3 al 10. 11 at |OI, and 25 at JOf cents. We quote as tlie ex tremes of the market, for square bales, 9 a 10i cents —round hales sell for about i<‘- less. GROCERIES, <fcr.—Our marketat4he present moment is w-ell supplied w ith every description of Groceries, except Sugars, which are scarce and advancing in price. The trade this week has been confined principally to country dealers, and has been dull, our country friends not having, a* yet, visited the city freely since Christmas. W e have but little change to notice in prices since our last. Salt has declined, and the. highest price that could he obtained yesterday, at wholesale, for »aoks, was SI I per sack—retaiir, at S‘2. Loose »ah is worth by r wholesale about 45 cents per bushel—retails, from stores at 59c. Rushing. —Of Kentucky we have a bountiful supply—mostly, bowever, in the hands of a few; Gunny is scarce. MuUitses. —New Orleans can be purchased on easier terms this week; we now quote the whole sale pnee at 371 per gallon—Cuba is worth about 27 cents. THE UIVEIL—On Monday night, the river commenced rising, and yesterday evening it va« !up to the lower wharves, and siiil rising slowly, j At the present time it is sufficiently high for steam boats of any draft to reach the wharves, with a good prospect of continuing so. \\ e quote the rite of Freight to Savannah 75 cents per bale.
