40c. according lo quality and quantity—of Cuba a

SUGARS—of every description are scarce—lit- ;

No special change in flour. Holders firm at yes
terday’s prices, isales of 5700 bbls. Genesee brands
at §0,874 —mostly held at §7 for prime shipping
brands. Southern Hour worth $6.50 a $6,75 —very
small sales. Dealers still awaiting further news
from Europe.
Wheat is still in good request, with sales of .
prime Genessee at 160 cts. per bushel. The price ;
of Corn has slightly declined. Sales of 30,000 j
bushels at prices from 95 to 98 cts.
Whiskey in bbls. is selling at 30cts. per gallon.
The Cotton market continues firm at yesterday's I
prices, with moderate sales.
Exchange on London 6 percent premium.
We have a very plea.-an I day; bright sun shine j
and a reasonably comfortable atmosphere.
The next news from Europe, expected by the i
new steamer Sarah Sands, is looked for with great ‘
anxiety by our merchants.
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 4, 2 P. M.— Cotton. — j
The market is in such an excited and unsettled j
condition, in consequence of the arrival of the Hi- ,
berilia’s news in foil, that nothing has been done.
The Post Office did not open for the delivery of
foreign letters ut t 1 a few minutes before one, and
the correspondence w as not generally received un
til some time afterward.
Sugar. —Sales 300 hhds. at previous rates.
Molasses. —3oo bbls. sold at 27 a 274 c.—inan
imate.
Flour —Sales 300 bbls. Illinoisand lOOOand 3000
Ohio at 6 o(3—parties generally asking 6 23 a 6 50,
ami some withholding entirely.
Corn —soiK) bushels, principally Yellow, sold
late last night, after ’change hours, at 90c. and
2800 sacks White, this morning at 90c. with con
