the remainder of the season, as the high prices re
cently paid has forced the great bulk of the rr ip
f irward. By our tallies below it will he seen that
the receipts at all the port* up to the latest dates
received are 1,219,073, against 1,175,131 last year,
•doming an excess in the receipts this year of 43,-
517 bales being a decrease on the amount fr tm
la>t week of 4.365 hales—the principal falling off
has been at New Orleans, viz 10.715 hales. Ttie
sales in this market since our last sum up only 1213
bales, in small lots from stores and wagons, the
particulars as follow : 2 at 84. 9 at Si 55 at ftj, 51
fcl 9,2 at 9J. 145 at 9f, 6at 9., 26 at 9 7-16. 159 at
51. 135 at 9|,6 at 9 11-16, 142 at 91, 76 at 9r, 16 at
9 13-16, 279 «t 10.83 at 101,32 at 10 3.16,98 at
10}, sat 101 and 7at loi cents. The above sales
are at a decline of about 11 a I i cts. from the high
est point paid this season. Tim market Is still 100
unsettled to give quotations, and we again omit
them. The Cambria’s advices are daily looked
for, and until they are received there will be but
little done in this market.

GROCERIES —The stock at present on hand
is light for the season of the year, but well assort
ed; our merchants however, have nt tde arrange- I
roents fora fair spring business, and have goods on
the way which are daily arriving. They show
every disposition to centre trade at this point, and
are determined to offer inducements to such nf our
country friends as may pay us a visit. They say
truly, they obtain their goods from the same mar
kets as the merchants of Savannah and Charles
ten, and buying on as favorable terms can afford
to sell them at as moderate profits.
CORN—Still has an upward tendency, and
several small lots, received by Rail Road and
wagons, have been sold this week at 80 cents —re-
tailing from stores a! 871 cents.
MOLASSES—Both Cuba and New Orleans arc
on the advance. In the early part of the week,
50 hhds. Cuba were sold on the wharf a t 26c.
towards the close, several small lots were sold
at 28 cents—and holders are now asking 30 cents
|»er gallon.
BAGGING.—SaIes have been reported to us
thia week ol small lots Kentucky, at 15c., which is
an improvement on the prices paid last week.
Bale Rope is sbn looking up.
COFFEE —Tiiere is a fair supply of Rio on
hand and several Jots have changed hands this
week at Si a 9 cents per lb.
SUGARS—AII descriptions of Sugars are j
scarce, and prices still on the rise. No Porto Rico
or St, Croix in the market. Sales of New Orleans
at 9f a 91 cents.
NAILS. Stock fully equal to demand. Sales
of 50kegs at sc. per lb.
TOBACCO —Four hhds. North Alabama Leaf,
have been sold this week at 3c. per lb.
THE RIVER—Is Mill in boatahle condition.

NEW' YORK. Feb. 29.— Cotton —The transac
tions continue >m ill, and prices have still further
declined; we have reduced our quotations half a
cent, hut in the presfmt condition of the market
they are but little better than nominal; the rates
now current are generally considered to he two
cents below the highest point. The sales since our
list are 2600 hates, of which 330 bales wore Up
land and Florida, thu- :

Molasses —New Orleans continues dull, and is if
anything rather lower. For Cuba, however, the

the sum* price; 170 do. Trinidad, 33; and 159
bids New Orleans, 36 a 37. 4 mos.
Sugars —The market has been pretty active
since otir last, and closes with much firmness, but
in prices. we have no further change to notice.—

held at higher rates.
There is a fair demand for Corn. Sales of
about 50,009 bushels ve.low at 95 to9S cts.
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 13, 2 p. m.— Cotton.

Sugar —Sales 209 hlnls.—stock light—prices
stiff.
Molasses Less animated—sales 350 bbls. at 27c.
Flour —Holders are generally asking $6 50;
buyers at 6 25. Sales 250 and 300 bbls. Ohio and

Corn. —Sales 5990 bushels mixed, 200 sacks
white and 1190 ivhiteaiui mixed at Sl—2oo yellow
at 1 05, and 809 1 bushels white and yellow, with
conditions, at $1 07—good lots generally field at
I 05—we h«ar of a contract to arrive by the Isth
April, for 15.000 bushels\whjte and yellow'at 80
cts.. sold under positive instructions from the ow
ner in the West.
Bacon —2o casks Sides sold at SI. Sales at re
tail nt 81 a 9c., and Shoulders at 7c.
Lard —Some transactions have occurred, but the
particulars have not yet transpired.
Whisky —There is more activity—Sale* 800 bbls
on private terms; 2 lots of 100 each at 224 c., 77 at
23, and several smaller lots at the same.
Freights —Masters are asking higher rotes—say
Ss. fid. a 9s. for Flour, and 21J. for Corn, but noth
ing transpired.
MONTGOMERY, Feb. 20.— Colton. —There is 1
nothing doing in this market worth noting. We
