LATEST DAT ICS FROM LIVERPOOL,::::::; MARCH 3. i*tist oat tes from it av R E,:::::::::::::::::JAN. 31 Extract of a latter received in this city, dated , Liverpool, Feb. 3. Our last Circular, of I9th tilt., per steamer Sarah Sands, advised of a decidedly adverse change in the money market, and of the Bank of England ! having advanced its minimum rate of interest i per j cent. The following week the Bank again raised ' its rate i per cent more, say to 4 percent as the minimum, and as an impression gut abroad that a ■till further advance was to follow this, together with the increased money pressure on the Conti nent, has caused considerable gloom here. A week I however having passed without any further rise in the rat ,j of interest, confidence has revived a little; butas the drain of bullion goes on, there is an ap prehension that the Bank may resort to further ■triupent measures, and lienee the money market continues in a feverish and unsettled state. The duty on all descriptions of grain anil flour, including rice, is now abolished until 31st August next, and the nav ig-uion laws are also suspended until that tint-, for the free admission of cargoes of grain, Arc. in the vessels of any nation. The accounts of the 19th, per Sarah Sands, would inform you of a depression of JJ per lb in the value of cotton, subsequent to which the mar ket furtl,er declined j to *d. hut has since rallied to the extent of a Id, so that our present rales are i to Id per lb below the highest point at the depar ture o! the sth January steamer. The greatest de pression is in the low ami middle qualities; fair Upland is now quoted f>J. fair Mobile 71, and fair Orleans 7«d per lb. The Manchester market was very gloomy yesterday, and ours equally so to-day. The sales for the week ended 22d January a mounted to 19,266 bales, of w hich 3500 were taken on speculation and J< 00 for export; and the busi ness for the week ended 2Jth ultimo was 21,500 bales, of which 9000 w ere on speculation and 1200 fur expo r t. The >ales fm- four days to this even ing. are estimated at 18000 hales, about 6000 of it being to speculators. Os the last week’s business 7270 were Upland at 5i to 7i; 7430 Orleans at 51 a 71. 2600 Alabama and Mobile at 51 to 7, and 80 Sea Island at 121 a 20d per lb. It will he se*-n op en what an unusually limited scale the spinners continue to purchase in this market, not nearly equal to their estimated current con-umption, though that C supposed to b** diminished to the ex tent of about 700 J hales weekly. The Stock market to-day was characterized with more activity, and prices were tending up ward. The Flour market sti’l remains quirt and un settled. Merchants have not rt had time to di gest their letters and private advices brought by the steamer. The impression prevails that no heavy transactions w ill take place until to-mor row. Genesee flour is nominallv held at $7, though it is thought there are sellers at^‘6,7s. — iSo price yet fix" 1 for Southern. The Grain market is still unsettled. Prime white Corn is nominally hr id at 91 cts ; and 91 a 95 fur yellow No sales of moment transpired.— Cloversecd. 0 c< nts [»rr ib. Whisky in bbls. is selling at 29J cts. per gal lon.
