THIS valuable preparation combines all the medicinal virtues of those articles, which long experience has proved to possess the most sa.e and efficientalterative and deobstruent properties, for the cure of Scrofula King’s Evil, U hit? Sun Ulcers; Scrofulous , Cancerous and Indolent Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic A tree lions y Rheumatism. Gout . All the diseases of the Skin, such as Teller Ringworm, Biles, Pimples, Carbuncles sc., Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. Nervous Diseases. ■Dropsical Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and diseases originating from a depraved or impure state of the Blood or other fluids of the body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has not offered this preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after twelve years’ experience had manifested its great superiority every other article of the kind.— and he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicine will effectually eradicate from the system a class of ibsease some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every x-a-rmty of disease and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerons Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Rronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of fai 1 u re. Al I were cu red. The success he has met with in curing hroncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not w ish to be Understood as say ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar Class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate. Scrofula —King's Evil. This preparation lias been used in numerous caves hfScrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci led success. Bkiu Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety'of cutane ous affections, and found it curing salt thenm, or .’“’ler. biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaimulceft skin, Arc. Dyspepsia and Diver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and w iih the happiest effect. TioDouloureuz. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, I and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great j many cases of chronic rheumaism, and in every I casein which it Wg,S used until the system became j affected by the medicine, the disease was removed’ I Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted w ith it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for live months immediately previous t > his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; | but before he had finished the third bottle, lie was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from w hich lie had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, This medicine increases the pow ers of digestion, j excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by j which watery or calcareous depositions, and all j unnatural enlargements are reduced, it iiti parts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for w ii t pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor wotdd say that some of t he most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this siieet precludes their publica tion at this time. CANCER. An interesting case cured hy Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem, N. j. it was examined by r many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of bne. All probable means of removing it w ere used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and pain fill ness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation oi eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In ab»>ut three months, after enduring incredi ble she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of tlie right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm w ere enlarged; and scirrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She wasof a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made with this Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a clay, and the doses very gradu ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six w eeks, and was at limes very painful, w hen the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and hergeneral health, which had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effectually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen rases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah A oung, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her w ind pipe, as large as the hall of an orange, w hich was cured by using this -Alterative fur about four Mus R— S .South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire spftee between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced aw ful de formity. It commenced, growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to in v crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer per sons to her. •* For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, •ep 28 Jy 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. SHERIFF'S SALES. B. GLASCOCK, P. 31. DK. CHRISTIE’S ~ GALVANIC RINGS AND M A G N F. T 1C F Jj FID. riTUIIS remarkable lovention, w hich has received the almost universal approbation of the medical pro fession of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap plication of Galvanism, as a reined hrt agent, hy means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries. Llectnc and. Ma gnetic Machines,&c., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious pow ers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are inseperablc from the gene ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma chines, lias been pronounced, after a fair and impartial trial, tobe decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new application was pro jected. w hioh after unceasing toil and perseverance, has been brought to its present stale of periectiou. Tho Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing tlie desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with th« Magnetic Fluid, ate confidently recommended in all D SORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN HEATHY ST \TE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM,and these complaints are among the most painful and uni versal to w tiich we are subject. They ari.-e, w ithout ex ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper mid judicious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings Irave been n.-ed w ith enliresnc eess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap plying to the head, face or limbs : Gout, Tic-Dolokeux Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Bick Headache. Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Paliitation of the Heart, Appoplexv, Stiffness f Joints, Spinal Complaints, lumrago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of tub Head, Pains in the Chest and Side. General Debili ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must he witnessed tobe believed, and as a certain rgE venttvf. for the preceding complaints thr-y are equal ly recommended. The Rings any of different prices, being made of all sizes, aud of various ornamental pat terns, and can he worn by the mostdelicate female w ithout the slightc.-l inconvenience. In fact the sensation is rather agreeable than otharwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds, Garters, Necklaces, «.V-c. Id some cases of a very severe character and of long standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient, to arrest the progress of disease and ulti mate ly to restore healt h. The iinprox ed modification in the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme dies tliiaobjectiou ; any degree of pow er that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which tho mysterious agent of Galvanism can etfect will fail to be permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe hodv with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally; also in cases of Ner vous Deafness; amt with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints. Christie’s 3fagncf ic Fluid. I* issued in connection witJi tli« Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has been pro nounced by the French Chenii.-ts to be one ofthe most extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be lieved to poss- ss a remarkable power of renderihc t he Nerves seusitive to Galvaihc actioh, by these mean* causing a circulation of the intluem;e at the seat of Jis ease, and tints giving rapid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce tho same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous system hy means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of theslirht est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana tions and directions accompany it. Tha combined in ventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they aro at prices within reach of all. and the discoverer onlv re quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising etiicacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas« ters. There articles form another valuable application of the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an important adjunct to the genuine Galvanic Rincsmul their modifications, acting upon Ihe same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They ! tin; confidently recommended as a valuable addition in ti.e speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in ' all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in case* of Pain and \Veak..e>s i <. the Chest or Back. Pain in tho Side, in Asthmi ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op i prcssion of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com plaints; their effects arc ofthe most decided character, , and they have ofl' n been used with complete success. Thcv are ai-o <.the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended i for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual me ins for .-trengthen tiig tiie system when debilitated with disease or other 1 causes ; as a cci tain aid in (’onstitntional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest ‘ generally the G tlvanic Strenpt' Tiling Piaster will ho J found of great ami permaaentadvantage. Ina few words, ; it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with tile important addition of the G ilvenn: influence, ' wh'diia neither impaired or exhausted, while the action I continues. Thes- artit les will he found entirely free from those objections which arc a constantsource of com plaint w ith the ordinary Plasters i"h common use. TLj’Tlie great celebrity and success of these articles, i have caused them lo he counterfeited by unprincipled ! persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie has but one am orized agent in eachcity of the I uiun. 'i’iic only Agency in Augusta,Geo., is at the Store of HUH AND, IHSLLY & CO., Druggists, j All articles of the kind sold elsewhere are worthless i counterfeits. 42 Sept. lift COLLETON IMTTEKS. FOB 1> VSP FP'J’IC’S. f J 9 HIESE BITT F. 118 are purely a vegetable .B. compound. and are offered lo the pub lic from a principle of benevolence, under the full est conviction that they will be found a safe and j sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia. They have been triumphantly tested not only by some ol the most : respectable families in the Mate, who have furnish i ed ample testimony as to their decided excellence, j hut also by the proprietor, who, for ten years, suf- I sered all the gloom incident to that distressing dis ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied to most other Bitters, of not proving injurious by continued use. They contain not a single delete rious ingredient, and, as seen from ihe directions ■ which accompany each bottle, may be given with entire safety to an infant in the month- If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever . ingly.lwhichis highly important instubborncascit,) ; they will, soon after the use of a few bottles, be j found to act on the system like a charm—imparting , vigor to the stomach, bracing the nerves, cleans ing the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, reliev -1 ing pains, cramps, and stitches in the breast. They i are also most excellent for cholera morbus, habitual constipation,sea-sickness, nausea, proceeding from whatever cause. In cases of general debility, it has proved one of the best remedies, and is there fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary gentlemen, students, and others of sedentary habits. Taken in small doses frequently through the day, they have checked the most violent diarrhoea, and likewise been administered with the happiesleffiect n cholera infantum. In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will be found effectual if persisted in, and taken accord ing to the directions which accompany each bottle. And although it has been testified by several that they are excellent in many others, yet in none other than those above enumerated, is the proprietor will ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia. The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be fore the public; and of ihe increas ing demand for this valtrahle medicine, the proprie : tor has entered largely into the business— bottles are procured having "Colleton Bitters”moulded in them —they are also numbered, sealed and stamp ed with an appropriate motto Price si per buttle. E. 31. CAREY, General Agent fur this State. J. E. MARSHALL. Agent, Augusta. Hilton Head, S. €., Jan. 1846. Os the Colleton Bitters—“f purely a Vegetable Compound ’* and which, from the confidence J have in the character and integrity of the maker and pro prietor thereof, I verily believe to be true,) 1 en tertain the most favorable opinion. Several of ray personal friends and acquaintances, long afflicted with Dyspepsia, have assured me that they ha\e found these Bitters better than any other medicine they ever tried, for that distressing disease. And I ! take the pleasure further to state that I have wit nessed the excellency of these Bitters, in nausia, sick-headache, and bowel complaint; in this fast particular, 1 have seen the Colleton repeatedly and successfully tested among the children of ray own house-bold.
