We have heard of no large sales, except one lot of 1 .70(1 bushels whieh brought 874 rents, sacks in cluded, and another lot of 2.500 bushels at 83c. per bushel, sacks included. 200 bushels sold at 83 cents per bushel, withoutsacks. 500 do. at 87* with, and 500 do. at same price, without sacks; ami another lot of 610 bushels brought S7f rents, sacks included. A lot of 800 bushels sold at 80c., and another of 500 bushels at same price, and one of 300 bushels at 95 ets.. sacks included. Freights. —Freights, both f oreign an I Coast wise, are extremely dull, and have further declined during the week. To Boston, engagements could be made at jc. lor square and round bales Cotton. CHARLESTON, March 13. Cotton. —The falling oS'in the receipts, together with the de cline in freight engagements, have during the past fortnight produced quite a reaction in prices, which it will be seen have materially advanced. We left the market on Friday in a compa rativcly quiet state. A good inquiry prevailed during the day, but notwithstanding the improvement which had marked the operations ol an earlier period, there was a stringency in the terms of holders which did not suit the views of purcha sers, who retired after having bought upwards of 1000 bales, at the quotations given in our re port ot the blit inst.; since then, however, factors have obtained advanced rates. The position of affairs underwent no positive change either on Saturday or Monday. A similar degree of con tention prevailed among dealers, in relation to prices, as at the close of the previous week. The transactions on the former day reached 1481 bales, and on the latter the sales wore confined to 578 bales. On Tuesday 1313 bales changed hands, and there was a decided buoyancy in pri ces at the close of business on that day. On Wednesday, 1210 bales were sold, and s.llers at the time claimed to have done better than on any preceding day. The operations of Tin s lay ex tend to 1900 hales, at ( a further improvement.— Yesterday the sales were limited to 721 bales, at the rales current on the previous day. Prices have graudually been sti lening for some days, and when the market closed, they wore consider ed | to £c. better then those prevalent at the close of last week, and we have changed onr figures ac cordingly. The aggregate sales since our last, cover 7225 hales, against the receipt in the same time of 4839 hales. The sales comprise 11 bales at 91; 707 at 10;2IG at 10*; 591 at 10*; 321 at 10|; 1481 at lop 552 at Jo|; 64 at 10 11-16; 790 at 10J; 141 at 10*; 51 at 10 15-16; 1519 at 11; 56 at Ilf; 41 at Hi; 132 at llg; 436 at 1 U and 72 hales at life. We quote ordinary to good ordi nary 10 a 104, middling to good middling lo| a 105; middling fair 11 a 114; fair and fully fair 11 g alii, and good fair Ilf al2 c. Sales have been madeto a moderate extent in common to mid dling fine kinds of Long Cotton, at the reduction of 2 to 3c. notice in our former report. Grain. —The receipts of Corn during the week are heavy, and comprise 11,000 bushels North Carolina, 22,000 bushels per Rail Road, and 20C0 bushels South Carolina. The Hock i» on the increase and prices have declined. Sales have j been at extremes from 80 to 90c., chiefly from 84 to 90c. per bushel. About 4500 bushels Mary land Oats have come to hand sine,- our last, which were disposed of at prices within the rangcof our quotations. Two or three small parcels ot Hay have also been received and sold within quotation i rates. Sail. —The receipts of the week comprise G 723 sacks. Sales have been made at prices rang ing from 90 to 95c. per sack, chiefly however at the former price. Several parcels of both M uscovado and Louisiana in small lots, have been offered within a few days, both at private and public sale, but the transactions have been very light.
