])us,,n.sin and Ll cer Complaint, Mrvous Diseases,
fire-meal Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and
diseases originating from a depraved or Impure
tiate of the Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
specifullv assure the public that he has not offered
this preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid study, T, or until after
twelve years’experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other article of the kind. —
and he now recommends it with confidence, fully
believing that the above combination of medicine
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of disease some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
lie has prescribed it in almost every variety of
disease and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, caucefoiis, scrofulous ami
prothuiic diseases, and diseases originating from
obsVrrction or enlargement of the glands of impuri
ty vf the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tamers.
lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it lias never failed in a single instance
to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
case offadure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing hronrho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may lie
removed with as much certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to he understood assay
ing that they can be cured us sou At as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that
lie has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only (lire these diseases when formed,
hut that it destroys the v irus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from win h that pecttlistr
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate.
Scrofula —King’s Evil.
This preparation has been u.-ed in numerous rases
of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings,
and always with the must dm i :ed success.
Skin Diseases,
lie has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and found it successful incuring salt
rheum, or teller, biles, blotches., pimples, niorphew
and jaundiced skin, A a .
Dyspepsia and Fiver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-Don!oureiiz.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheutnaism, and in every
casein which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed'
Gout.
A number of crises of gout have been cured by
'this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, ami
for five mouths immediately previous to his taking
it he Alterative be had been confined to Ids room;
telft'before he had finished the third borle.be was
enabled to w alk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he had so long
■been excluded by his afflictions.
Dropsical Swellings,
This medicine increases the powers of digestion,
•excites the absorbents into healthy' exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all
unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
nek and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine lias
■been taken for wane time, no matter for vvh t pur
pose, the genera! health of the patient has always
been improved bv it.
!n conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
*bf the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; hut
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
CANCER.
jin interesting case cured bp Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
•one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and pain fulness, until all hope
of saving iter life, but liy a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter, In about tiiree months, afterenduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. Bhe remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, a> in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of lie right
breast, previous toils removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprived tier of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest iheiiisease. Indeed her whole hodyappear
ed to he a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
both her parents having died of Pulmonary con
sumption. The experiment was now made with
this Alterative. It was at first given in small
doses, three limes a day, and tie- doses very gradu
ally, hut steadily increased daily, as long as she
took it. which was about six months, and the skin
over and around the Honour was wet night and
morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy
dried.ne Potash. The tumour continued increas
ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times
very painful, w hen the pain suddenly ceased alto
gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, ami
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con
tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of
disease was removed. The tumour in her left
breast, and those in tier right axilia were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards; and her general health, which
bad been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a
burthen, was efl-cmaliy and permanently restored.
T he proprietor is in possession of the. diseased
breast, and those who choose may examine it. He
would also say that he could mention over a dozen
rases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative
has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he
has not room hereto record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J.,
had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind
pipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was
cured by using this Alterative for about four
months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the.
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on
each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de
formity. it commenced growing when she was
but five years old. and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at which time she
commenced using this Alterative, w hich she took
for seven months, w hich entirely reduced the en
largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty
a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at
liberty to give her name in print, but will refer per
sons to her.

DR. CHRISTIE’S
GALVANIC KINGS
AND
31 AG NET 1C FLUID.
f B3IIIS remarkable invention, which has received the
& almost universal approbation of the medical pro
fession of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
plicationof Galvanism, as n remedial agent, by means of
w hich the ordinary Galvanic Ba tones, Electric and Mag
netic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious powers of Galvanism applied w ithout any
of the objections which are insuperable from the pene
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
chines, has been pronounced, af.er a fair and impartial
trial.tube decidedly INJURIOUS, and it was to remedy
tills radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after iinceasing toil and perseverance, has
been brouuht to its present stale of perfection. The
; Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
; expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more save and certain in accomplishing the desired
| effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all
D BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN
i heathy state of the nervous or vital system, and
! these complaints are among the most painful and uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, withoutex
ceplion, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—audit was in these cases that other
“ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was
1 greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, bus
been found in the proper and judicious application of
i Galvanism.
I he G ilv.vmc Rings have b< en used u ith enfiresuc
cess in all cases ot Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to the head, taco or limbs Gout, Tic-Doloreux
| Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous .. r eocit
| Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses. Palsy, Epilepsy,
; Fits, ( ramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplf.xt,
Stiffness f Joints, Spinal Complaints, Kumbago,
Neuralgia, Nervous Ire mors. Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest anuSide. General Debili
ty. Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of continued
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement *f
the digestive organs, they have been found equally mi
cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the vyitcai
must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain rig-
TENTIVE for the preceding complaints they are equal
ly recommended. Ihe Rings are ul different pncio,
being made of all sizes, and ol various ornamental pat
terns.and can be w orn by the most delicate female v> illiuut
tlie sliirlite*t inconvenience. In fad the sensation ia
rather agreeable than othorw ise.
The Galvanic lielts, llracelets, Hands,
Charters, Necklaces, Ac.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
stanciing the power as applied by the Galvanic Kings
! •»’ not sufficient to arrest the progress of disease and ulfi
i maiely to restore health. The improved modification in
! the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, Ate., entirely retnc
. dies tliisobjection ; any degree of pow er that i» required
can readily be obtained, and no complaint which tlio
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail tube
j permanently relieved. Tin se articles are adapted to the
! w aist, a ins, w rists, limits, ancle*; oi any part of iln* body
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Neiklacks
are u,ed with creator hem fit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Nkr
vous Deafness; and with almost uuilonn success a. a
! preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
complaints.
Christie’s 3lagnetic Fluid.
Isissucd in connection with the Galvanic Rings, «nd
all tiioir iuodificatiuns. I his composition has been pro
nounced by the French Chemists to be one oftlie moil
extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be
lieved to poss ** a remarkable power of renderiiic thk
Nerves seusitive toHalvaiiic actioii, b\ these mean*
cau-ing a circulation of the influence at the seat of -Ji»-
sase, and thus giving rapid and permanent relict '. No
othercomposiiion in chemistry is known to produce the
i same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous
: system by means of an outward local application. The
Magiietic Fluid contains nothing t-apaole of thesligfit
est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
in itsaclion as it is benefit.ial in its result. Full explana
tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
vention* arc in every way perfectly harmless; they are
at prices within reach of all, and l. c discoverer only re
quests a fair trial, as a lest of their surprising efficacy
and permanent benefit.
Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
These articles form another valuable application of
the mysterious influence of Galvanism. Tlicv are aa
important adjunct to the genuine Galvaiiic Kincsand
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
bavin" this advantage of inure local applica ion. They
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition m
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all nervous complaints, ami as a positive remedy in rase*
ot Pain and VVeak..c.-s > the Glie-t or Back. Pai.a in the
Side, in Asthni o Ic. Affections, and in Weakness or Op
pression ot Ine Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com -
plaints; their effects arc of the nio-l decided character,
and they have often been used with cotnulrt- sneers*.
They are also of the greatest advantage jn Pains and
Weakness of' the Breast, and are highly recommended
for many of those complaints to which lenules are
especially liable. As an effect ii il in •■aits for strengthen
ing the system when debilitated with disease or other
causes ; as a cci taiu aid Hi Constitutional \S eakn •*.*, as a
Preventive for Cold.- and in all affections of the Chest
generally the Galvanic tstrengt cuing Plaster will bs
found of great and penminenlad vantage. I n a few word*,
it embraces all the virtues of the Iv-st ionic preparation
with the important addition of tbe G.i'veni inflm-nr-,
wli rh is neither impaired or exhausted, while the action
continues. Thes articles will be found entirely free
from those objections which an o consta t source of com
plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use.
XTThe great celebrity and success of these articles,
have caused them to be counterfeited by unprincipled
persons. To provide against imposition. Dr. Christie
has lint out ant orized agent in eacheity of the l ulon.

If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever

they will, soon after the use of a few bottles, lie
found to act on the system like a charm—imparting
vigor to the stomach, bracing the nerves, cleans

appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, reliev
ing pains, cramps, and stitches in ihe breast. They
are also moslexcellent for cholera morbus, habitual
constipation,sea-sick ness, nausea, proceeding from
whatever cause. In cases of general debility, it
lias proved one of the best remedies, and is there
fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary
gentlemen,students,and others of sedentary habits.
Taken in small doses frequently through the day,
they have ciiecked the most violent diarrhoea, and
likewise been administered w ith the happiest effect
n cholera infantum.
In all the foregoing complaints, these Hitters will

And although it has been testified by several that
they are excellent in many others, yet in none other
than those above enumerated, is tie* proprietor will

'i’he Colleton Hitters have been eight years be
