COLLETOJi BITTERS. I for DYSPEPTICS. BITTERS ar»- purely a vegetable compound, and are offered to the pub lic from a principle? of benevolence, under die luL est conviction that they will be found a sale and sovereign remedy fur Dyspepsia. 1 hey have oecn triumphantly tested not only by some ol the must respectable families in the Slate, vv ho have furnish ed ample testimony as to their decided excellence, but also by tbe proprietor, who, for ten years, sut lered all the gloom incident to that distressing dis ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied to moat other Bitters, of not prov ing injurious by continued use. They contain not a single delete rious ingredient, and, as seen from the directions which accompany each bottle, may be given with entire safely to an infant in the month If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever vngly, (w Inch is highly important in stubborn cases,) they will, soon alter the use of a lew bottles, be found to act on the system like a charm—imparting vigor to the otomach, bracing the nerves, cleans ing the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, reliev ing pains, cramps, and stitches in (he breast. '1 hey are also most excel lent for cholera morbus, habitual constipation,sea-sickness,nausea, proceeding from whatever cause. In cases of general debility, it has proved one of the best remedies, and is t mre fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary gentlemen, students, and others ol sedentary habits. Taken in small doses frequently through the day they have checked the most violent diarrhoea, and hkeW'ise been administered with the happiesteffcct n cholera infantum. In all tfie foregoing complaints, these Bitters will befetmd effectual if persisted in, and taken accord ing to the directions which accompany each bottle. And although it has been testified by several that they are excellent in many others, yet in none oilier than those above enumerated, is the proprietor will ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia, The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be fore the public; and in consequence of the increas ing demand for this valuable medicine, the proprie tor has Entered largely into the business—bottles are procured having “Colleton Bitters” moulded in them—they are also numbered, sealed and stamp ed with an appropriate motto. Price §1 per buttle. E. M. CAREY, General Agent for this Stale. j. e.Marshall, Agent, Augusta. ,Hilton llvau, S. C., Jan. 1846. Os the Colleton Bitters —“(jmreiy a Vegetable Compound ” and which, from the confidence I have In the character and integrity of the maker and pro prietor thereof, 1 verily believe to be true,) 1 en tertain the most favorable opinion. Several of un personal friends and acquaintances, long afflicted with Dyspepsia, have assured me that they have found these Bitters belter than any other medicine ’they ever tried, for that distressing disease. And I take the pleasure further to state that 1 have wit nessed the excellency of these Bitters, in nausia, aick-headache, and bowel complaint; in this hn# particular, 1 have seen the Colleton repeatedly and successfully tested among the children of my ow n hoase-kold. No family ought to he without this in valuable medicine. REV. A. WOODWARD. Pastor of St. Lukes Church, S. C. april 29 133 i>i«. cji iVi siii.’s GALVANIC RINGS AND MAGNETIC FLUID, fRTHIS remarkable invention, which has received the JL almost universal approbation of the medical pro fen ■ ion of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap- , plication of Galvanism, ae a remedial agent, by means of 1 which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Mag- I itelic Machines,&c.,areeuiirely dispensed with, and the j mysterious powers of Galvanism applied w ithoul any | of the objections which are inseperable from the cc-u-e- j r*l modo now in use. The strong doses, and at irre-gu- | Inr intervals, in which Galvanism is apjdred by the Ma chines, has been pronounced. af,er a lair and im|rarlial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new application was pro jected, which after unceasia-g toil and perseverance, has oeelt brought to its pre.-ent slate of perfection. The • ffALv\yirc’Kings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Macs ktic Fluid, a;o confidently recommended in all i D sorders which arise from an enfeebled or un heathy STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and | these complaints are among the most painful and uni- | versal to which we are subject. They arise, without ex- j replion, from one simple-cause—a derangement of the j Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other ' *• remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was j greatly needed, winch it is confidently believed, liar been found in the proper and judicious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used w ith entiresuc eass in ail cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap jilyiug tothe head, face orlinibs : Gout, Tic-Doloreu.x Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sice II earache, Indigestion, Paralyses. Pjlsst, Epilepsy, i Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy, Stiffness if Joints. Spinal Complaints, Kumbago, Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the Head. Pains in the Chest andSidl. General Debili ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous DisoruliScs. in cases of confirmed Dyspepsia, which is simple a nervous derangement of thedi gestive organs, they have beea, found equally sue- [ •ccssful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system taustbe witnessed to be believed, and as a certain ritK ventivt f*r ike preceding cotsp-Lu-a-ts they are equal ly recommended. The Rings arc of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat terns, and can be worn by the inostdrlicutc female without the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is rather agreeable than othorw ise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, In some cases of u very severe character and of long standing, the power as applied hy the Galvanic Kings is not sufficient to arrotthe progress of disease and ulti mately to restore health. The improved modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, &c.,-entirely reme dies tiiis objection ; any degree of pow er that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be ,perii)auej2.tK’ relieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihefcixJy with perfectofeßveßieiice. The Galvanic Necklaces •re used with-greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar oomplainu. Christie’s Magnetic Fluid. faisaued in connection with the Galvanic Kings, and •Mt-keiT ffeiilificalions. This composition has been pro nounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be lieved to possess a remarkable power of rendlriiig the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic action, by these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to pro-luce the same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous evsTom by means «f an onward fecal application. The Mag iietic Fluid contains nothing capable of theslieht- ; rst injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless In iteaction as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana tions and directions accompany it. The combined iu veirvsons are in every way perfectly harmless; they arc •t prices vvithia reach of ii-Ji, sowJ the discoverer only re quests a fair trial, as a lest of tiieir surprising efficacy end permanent benefit. Christie’s Galrauic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application of the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an important adjunct to the gcnui-t** Galvanic Kings and -their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this ad vantage of more local application. They •re confidently recommended as a valuable addition in th* speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in all nervous complaints, and us a positive remedy incases j «f Fain and Weakness i i the Chest or Back, Fain in the Side, in Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or-Op pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com plaints; their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are hitrhly recommended for many of those complaints to which females arc especially liable. As an effectual means for r trcogtlicn tile system when debilitated with disease or other causes ; as a eertaie *id ui Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster will he found of great and perraanentad vantage. In a few words, 4t embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galveiuc mlluejxce, which is neither impaired or exhausted, while the action continues. Thcsv articles will be found entirely free from those objections w hich art a constant source ©/com plaint with the ordinary Plastersin cohuuoii use. Nervous Diseases , Dropsical Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and ; diseases originating from a depraved or Impure state of the Blood or other fluids of the body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has not offered j this preparation to their notice w ithout due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after twelve years’ experience had manifested its great superiority over every other article of the kind,— and he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicine i will effectually eradicate from the system a class of disease some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. lie has prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous arid scorbutic diseases, and di>eases originating from 1 obstruction or enlargement of tbe glands or impari ty of the blood. Cancer ami Caucerons Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty we 1 defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Broncbooole or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Nul a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success be has met with in curing broncho- j ceie anti cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that they can be cured as soon as fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that lliis prepara tion v\ ill not only < tire these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the. virus or poisonous principle i lurking in the system, from wide h that peculiar ’ class of diseases, as well as that ofscrofula emanate, j Scrofula— Kvil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci led success. Nkiu Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew' and jaundiced skin, Ac. Dyspepsia and Fiver Complaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver coin- | j plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Tic-Douloureux. It lias been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case was successful, Bhcum&tisui. This preparation has been prescribed in a great , many cases of chronic rheumaisin, and in every | casein which it was used until the system became j ' alfccted by the medicine, the disease was removed ‘ i Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured hy I this preparation. In one of these cases, the man | had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen i years as to entirely disable him from business, and j ibr five months immediately previous to his taking j the Alterative he had been confined to his room; i but before he bad finished the third bottle, fie was ; I enabled to vvaltaabout the streets and soon after re -1 turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings* This medicine increases the powers of digestion, j excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by i which watery or calcareous depositions, and all i i unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts j i lone and vitality to the whole system, removing j ! sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering i j pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where tbe medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for w h t pur- l pose, tbe general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing u-.ises -of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured tty this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at tiiis time. CANCER. An interesting case curs'd by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed ilutherightbreasj of.Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretr-li, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, w hich, after a consultation ol eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. Ji*Ln Rhea Barton, assisted bv Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was piouoanced by all present a cancer of the most taaJignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi- ! ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again, the remained feeble, and hergenerai health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at limes painful tumour, ap peared iu the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. Bhe was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now- made with this Alterative, ll was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu ally. but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, w hich was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour vv-as wet nigirt and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy driodal-e Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in sire for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, ami became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of j disease was removed. The tumour in left i breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis- \ persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; ami her general health, w Inch : had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a j burthen, was effectually and permanently restored, j The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examined. He would also say that he. could mention over a dozen cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge,N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her w iml pipe.a' large as tbe half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Mis* Xl— B , South FouTfh-street, Phila delphia,-was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled tbe entire spaee between tbe chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, ami from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de formity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, ami continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using tiiis Alterative, which she took fur seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now asLjgioolh and pretty a neck as can be fuumh "i'i»e proprietor not av liberty to give her name in print, But will refer per sons to her.
