activity, as the full rates demanded by factors gen
erally deterred buyers from operating to any very
important extent. On Wednesday but a limit'd
business was done, the sales be ng *22> 0 bates, and
on Thursday only 1500 bales were disposed of, all
parties seeming inclined to await la'er European
advices before operating to any important ext *nt.
Yesterday similar influences prevailed, and as t ie
mail failed beyond Charleston, we were left with
out any further advices, either from the North or
from Europe; consequently hut a limited business
was again done in the Cotton mark’*!, the sales be

of 5200 bales, taken principally for France, the
Continent and the Nor b, the English buyers hav
ing mule f.-w or no purchases. The week’s sales
amn up 15.000 bales. As regards prices, which in
our last we left fully up to our outside figures, they
have generally continued to be firmly maintained,
and for middling and good middling qualities, a
fraction higher has been obtained, as wi 1 be seen
by our quotations, though ye-ter.l iv there was
rather more off ring, and the market was consid
ered slightly easier thin for a day or two previous.
Supplies are coming in rather more freely than
was anticipated, in consequence of the arrival of
a unrulier of flatboats from North Alabama and
Tennessee, but few of which readied here last
year until a later period.
