PATENT MEDICINES. JAYNE’S ALTERATIVE. THUS valuable preparation combines all medicinal virtues of those articles. lonjf experience has proved to possess tl.e ,n " ami efficient alterative and deobstruent prop for the cure of Scrofula Kins'* Evd, VI Me inzs Ulcers; Scrofulous, Affections, Tumours; Tic- Rheumatism Gout, [siccZZe(i Doulou-eux Cancer j ol , lts Q lands Neck,] Oliver, Spleen, Kid or W°™. u [ he diseases of the Skin, such as Biles, Pimples Carbuncles fc.. Duslasna and Liver Cmnplnut. nervous Diseases Vrovsieal Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and diseases originating from a depraved or Impart *tate oft lit Mood or other fluids of tiie body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has not offered this preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after twelve "years’experience had manifested its great ■uperi'-irity over every other article of the kind.— and he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above, combination of medicine will effectually eradicate from the system a class of disease, some of w hich have heretofore been con sidered tticu ruble. lie has prescribed it in almost every variety of disease and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, an.! di.-e.ases originating from 1 obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty we 1 defined cases of cancer and cancerous m tnors, and in every case but one wiLii perfect .md entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Xcck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred c ases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. -Not a solitary case of failure. Ail were cured. The success he has met with in curing hronclio cele and cancerous affections lias convinced him that these dangerous ami horrible diseases may be removed vv it fT as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say iin’- that they can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only « ure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrolu la emanate. Scrofula—King’s Ilvil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases sbf Scrofula, King's L\il, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci ed success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed ii in a great variety ofentene- j ous affections, and found it successful incuringsalt j rheum, or tetter, tides, blotches, pimples, muruhew and jaundiced skin, &c. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It ha* been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and w iih the happiest effect. Tic-Douloureux. It has been used in several cases of ■und in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great •many cases of chronic rheumaism, and in every case in which it. was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed ■ Gout. A number of rases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man hud been afflicted with il so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from Imsiness. and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative lie had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third hot le, lie was enabled to walk about ihe streets and soon after re turnod to his business, from which he bud so long been excluded by Ids afflict ions. Dropsical Swellings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case vvhere the medicine has Iteen taken for some time, no matter for wh t pur pose, the general heallii ol the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some Os the most astonishing cases ol skin diseases, can cer, bmnchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this .medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this dine. CANCER. A.n interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterunve In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appeal ed in the right breast «d Mrs. Phoebe, wife ul Peier Stretch, of Salem, N. J. Il was examined by many Phvsicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, And besides bore all the characteristic marks ol one. All probable means of removing it were u-eii without the. slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulnesa, until ail hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, w hich, after a consultation oi eminent Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gesl'emen. The whole and entire right breast was remo"—l, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced b\ all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, afterenditring incredi ble sufferings. she was enabled, though broken in • pirit, to get about again, idle remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In flu •pringof 1537, upwards of live years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over tin part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and .-cirrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest thedisease Indeed her whole hodyappear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless, iffle was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made with thin Alterative. It was at first given in small dose*, three times a day, and the doses very gradu ally, hut steadily increased daily, as long as she tomtit, which was about sis months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of iodine and Hy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times •very painful, when tl*i pain suddenly ceased alto- E ether, and the tumour swelled out at the b.rse.anu ecame soft and then began to diminish, and con tioued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis ported. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever Appearedaftervfards;and hergeneral health, which had been bo had for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effec ually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen rases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room hereto record them. Mr*. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her vvind pipe.a- large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative fur about four months. JUisg R S .South Fourth-street, Phila delphia. was also cured cf an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between t lie chin and breast-bone, and extended around on •ach side of her neck to behind her ears, and from bar ears to her shoulders, and produced aw ml de fortuity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at w hich lime she commenced using this Alterative, which she look for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a, neck as can he found. The propriet or is not at .iberty to give her name in print, but will refer per safe by WM. K. KITCHEN. «ep2B ly 2 Sola Agent for Georgia COLLETON BITTERS. TOll DYSPEPTICS. npiIESE B1 I’ I’E R 6 are purely a vegetable .H. compound, and are offered to the pub lic from a principle of benevolence, under the full e;-t conviction that they wiil tie found a safe and sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia. They have been triumphantly tested not oniy by some of the most respectable lamiiies in t be. Sstate, w liu have furnish ed ample testimony as to their decided excellence, but also by the proprietor, who, lor ten years, sut fered all the gloom incident to that distressing dis ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied to most other Bitters, of not proving injurious by continued use. They contain not a single delete rious ingredient, and, as seen from the directions which accompany each bottle, may be given with entire safety to an infant in the month L the Colleton is taken regularly and persever ingly,( w hich is highly important in stubborn cases.) they will, soon alter the use of a few bullies, be found to act on the system like a charm—imparling Vl ~ur to the ptomacii, bracing the nerves, idealis ing the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, reliev ing pains, cramps, and stitches in the breast. They are. also most excellent for cholera morbus, habitual constipation,sea-sic knee*. nausea, proceeding from whatever cause. In cases us general debility, it has proved one of the best remedies, and is there fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary gentlemen, students, and ot hers of sedentary habits. I’aken in small doses frequently through the day, they have checked the most v iolent diarrhoea, aiid likewise been administered wih the happiest effect I n cholera infantum. In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will be found effectual if persisted in. and taken accord ing to tiie directions which accompany each bottle. And although it has been testified by several that they are excellent, in many others, yet in none oilier than those above enumerated, is the proprietor wail ing lo vouch for their efficacy. They were prima rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia. The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be fore the public; and in cmnequence of ihe increas ing demand for this valuable meuicine, the proprie tor has entered largely into the business—bottles are procured having “Colleton Bitters” moulded in them—they are also numbered, sealed and stamp ed v- itU au appropriate motto Price §! per buttle. CIiIIISIiJE’S GALVANIC RINGS AND MAGNETIC FRIT ID. rip ms remarkable invention, which has received the i li. almost universal appiobatiuu of the medical pru fe.vion oi Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap i plication oi Galvanism, as n remedial agent by means-of w inch ihe ordinary Galvanic l>.i lenes. Electric and .Map- j lie tic M • chine-, are entirely dispensed with, and the i mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any ot the objections which are iusepernbie Irom the tenc rai mode now in use. Tac stroi g doses, and at irregu lar intervals, in which Galvanism is apjdifid by the Ma chines, kas he n pronounced, as era lair and impartial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy tins radical delect- that this new application was pro jet ted, which after unceasing tad and perseverance, has been brought to ns present slate of perit enon. The Galvanic Rings answer all Hie purposes of the uio.-t expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe, and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. Tne Galvvntc Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all D BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AS ENFEEBLED OR IN HEATHY SI ATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, Hid \ these i omplaints ure among the most painful and uni versal to which we are subject. They arise, without ex ception, liomone simple cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies” having .-o often failed, -a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, lias been found m the proper and judicious application of Gal van ism. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre ventive for the "prece Img Complaints they are equal- Iv recommended. The Pings are of different prices, being made of all s-z-»s,aiiil of various ornamental pat ter ns, and con be worn by the most delicate female w ithout the slightest inconvenience. 5n fact the sensation is rather agreeable than otharwise. The improved modification in the Galvan c Belts, Brace ets.
