COTTON—Our last review left the market
•with advices from Liverpool to the 21st March, at
hand. These advices being of an unfavorable
character, exhibiting a further decline in that mar
ket of FL making the decline since the depaitnre
of the last steamer hi. caused a slight suspension of
operations in this market, which continued for a
day or two, when purchasers again made their ap
pearance, and although sales were only to a mode
rate extent, holders since Saturday’ have found no
difficulty in getting last weeks prices fur ah grades
—particularly the better qualities. The receipts
continue light at this place, and by reference to
tables below’, it will be seen that the receipts at
all the ports show a material falling off—which
circumstance has given more confidence to hold
er'- in this market, and f treign advices will have
little or nodepressing effect on prices here for the
remainder of the season. The sales this week, so
far as they have been reported to us, sum up 1395
bales, as follows : 5 at 9,2 at 9?, 9at 9*. t» at 91, 11

at 11, and a small lot of G bales at Hi cents. We
continue former quotations, with the remark, that
yesterday the demand fell off, buyers awaiting
the next steamers advices, now nearly due, and
that the few sales made were generally at our in
side, figures.

APALACHICOLA, April 13— Colon. —The
receipts during the past, week amount to 5001 hales,
and the exports to 2298, leaving the stock on hand,
including all on shipboard not cleared 31,317 bis,
against 27,919 bales, same time lasi year.
We closed our last weekly report, which was
made up to Monday evening, with a very limited
I inquiry for cotton, the Hibernia’s news, which
reached ns in full the mail previous, causing a sus
-1 pension of operations, the few sales made being
; at a decline of ic, and all parties waiting to see
j the effect of the, news upon other markets—factors
I offering their cottons very sparingly and only sel
| ling at the decline such lots as were immediately
pressed upon the market. This state ot things i
I continued throughout 'Tuesday, the sales of that
i day only amounting to 57 bales. On Wednesday
nine Northern buyers entered the market, amis i
sales were made to the extent of 627 bales at the ;
reduction noticed in our previous report. Tlmrs- !
i day the same parties were again in tire market and •
1 during the day 509 bales were disposed (if without 1
any change in prices. The inquiry continued dtv
1 ring Friday, the transact ions of the day amounting
j to 400 bales. On Saturday, factors having been
j relieved of a large portion of their best cottons, .
i which were about the only qualities in demand, ■
j stiffened up a little, and the sales which took j
I place, amounting to 200 bales, were at ?c. better i
! prices. Yesterday there was again a fair enquiry
j from the same parties and during the day 450 bales
| were <ii posed of ala still farther advance of fc.,
1 bringing the market back where it was previous to |
i the " i lihertiia'.s accounts, w ith the exception of the
lower grades, say ordinary and middling qualities,
which being entirely neglected, we are unable to
give the quotations of those grades, but presume
j there would be 1 iitie difficulty in buying them at 1
foil *e.off. Qualities above middling fair, which
have been very much indemuml the last week are
extremely scarce and readily command full prices.
We restore the quotations current previous to the
‘‘Hibernia’s’'arrival, remarking that on qualities
i below good middling, holders would readily ac
cept somewhat lower rates.
