LATEST DATES from L t v E rpoo L,:::::::: apr IL 4.
Latest dates from Havre,::::::;:;:::march 31.
MACON, April 27th.— Cotton. —We have no
change to remark since our last. No transactions
have came to nur knowledge since the receipt of
the Cambria’s news yesterday. This, however,
will doubtless give prices an upward spring. We
quote to-day, extremes 10 a lOic.
COLUMBIA, April ‘24— Cotton. —The arrival
of the Cambria at Boston, has brought news of a
revival in the cotton market of Liverpool, and a
corresponding decline in breadstuff*. Cotton has.
therefore advanced with us full fc. We accord
ingly change our quotations from 10 to 1 lie ex
tremes; very little, however, is coming into market.
NEW YORK, April 20,2* p. ra.—Cotton—Sales
1500 hales, prices steady.
Flour—soo Genessee sold at 57.75, and more can
be had at that, though in lots 7.83 a 8 is obtained.
Corn—a parcel of Southern mixed sold at 90 els
per hush; for yellow the price is 92 a 96c.
Freights—3s hbl to Liverpool is the top price.
Sterling—sales at 7 prem and one bill of X3OOO
at 7J; francs 5,37*.
CAMDEN, April 28. —Cotton —Our supply ap
pears to be nearly exhausted. The few bales that
come in weekly, sell readily at high prices. We
quote 10 a I lie.
NEW OKLEAS, April 24 Cotton Arrived
tsince the 20ih instant, 3891 bales. Cleared in the
same time 12,700 bales—making a reduction in
stock of 3409 biles, and leaving on hand, inclusive
of all on shipboard not cleared on the 23d instant,
a stock of 206.034 bales.
Our last report left the Cotton market in so dull
and unsettled a state, consequent upon the receipt
of adverse European accounts to (he 21st ultimo,
that we were unable to furnish any reliable quota
tions, no business of sufficient consequence having
been done to establish market rates, though we re
marked that the few unimportant parcels disposed
of after the news came to hand were said to he at a
decline of ia t a cent per lb On Wednesday the
market wasstill in a very unsettled state, though
more business was done, the sales reaching about
2500 bales, and still at a decline of 1 a I of a cent
from the rates current before the news. On Thurs
day the market assumed more steadiness, there be
ing less offering, and about 2500 bales were dis
posed of, at slightly firmer rates than purchases
were made at on the day previous. Vesterday the
business was restricted to some 900 hales, as hold
ers generally were unwilling to sell at the offered
rates, and most of the principal factors have with
drawn their stocks,to await the ('ambrit’s accounts
which are expected to reach here in some shape
by to-morrow or next day. The total sales of the
week sum up only 76 0 bales, of which 5000 hales
were disposed of during the past three days, taken
principally for England, Spain and the Continent.
As regards prices, though the market has assumed
more steadiness within the last day or two, yet the
closing rates exhibit adecliue of fully a 4 of a cent
from our quotations previous to the reception of
the Europea'n advices, on ail qualities below Fair,
and our figures have been altered accordingly.—
The finer grades, however, ow ing to their compa
rative scarcity, maintain their former position.

CO U PON SEED.— Southern Planters would
find a great benefit by using tins Solution as a

having been soaked, the Seeds must be drained
in a sieve or basket, and immediately planted.
F >r the information of those who wish second

of’some well known Agriculturists, who tried tba

Extract of a letter from JOHN S. SKIN
NER, Esq., dated Pebruary 13, 1813. Your So
lution was tried, not b* me, but mv own son, F.
G. Skinner; the Wheat he steeped in it was
sowed ven late, yet lie says the effect is very ap
parent and highlv beneficial. 1 shall recommend
the trial of the Solution to all my friends next
spring, for -their Cats, Com, (Xx.
Col. N. GuLDSBOROFGH. writes, March
filh, 1845: Three bushels were seeded in stiff
white «*ak land, and here I have every reason to
be well satisfied with the ex(leament, the Wheat
came up tbeee lavs earlier, and grew up with as
i tonishing vigor, and has maintained a superiority
over the adjacent Wheat, which was brined and
limed and seeded the same dav in land of tho
same quality. It hoc. constantly appeared ib«*
far as if the land in w hich the Wheat slteepcd, in
the Solution was seeded had been manured, and
the other not; whereas the whole v\as. dressed the
preceding spring with barn-yard manure, &c.
Commodore JONES, li. S. Navy, writes : *‘As
to the ellects ol the Solution on thegrowing crop,
&c., I think very favorable. It bus added much
tu the appearance as well as to the gro-vlh, &c.'*
(Order, double the quantum used last Fail.)
Green 4 alley Purm , August 27, 1840. — I have
tried your solution, last fall, on Wheat. I sowed
a piece ofland of three acres, one half the seed
soaked with the Solution, at i the other without
any soaking. One acre ama a half, with the
seed soaked, gave 2li bushels Wheat, the other
one and a half acres only welded 12|; the Wheat
weighed 59k pounds per bushel, while that n t
soaked onL 37|. The W heat soaked came up
nearh four days before the other, and harvested
lie tit edenjs sooner. PHILIP ViAHSO.
