Wista \s Balsam of Wild Cherry.
A VALUABLE TESTIMON Y.
We like at all tines, to give credit when credit
is due, nnd if at tne same time we can relieve the
distressed, wo are doubly gratified; wo, therefore,
give the following voluntary testimony as to the
beneficial effects of Wistar'a Balsam of Wild
Cherry, by the editor of the C »lu nbia South
(Carolinian, who appears to ha'-'e obtained great
relief from its use. Old Dominion, Portsmouth,
Vi.
W I STAR’S BALSAM OF WILD CTIER-
R V.
Wc seldom resort to patent medicines, leaving
a great respect for the skill of the medical profes
sion, but chance threw into our way the above
named medicine, immediately after the close of
the late session of the Legislature, when our
lungs were almo t dried up by the highly ratified
atmosphere of our stove-warmed Stale-house.
The Balsam immediately relieved us of a most
harassing cough, which threatened our health in
a serious degree. We feel that we are indebted
t>' it for some fifteen pounds of animal weight—
which addition being once FELT, cannot lie
forgotten.
None genuine, unless signed 1. BU I'TS on

feeling prevailed on the part <»1 buyers. 'I lie de- ;
maud was quite animated during the w ho day, and
as it was met with more freedom by holders., the j
transactions fooled up some 3.iOU bales at very lull j
prices. There \\ as ag ■in a good enquiry on Mon- j
day, but the firmness of factors limiied the sale to 1
about 1000 bales. 'i’nesday. in consequence of I
liie advanced pretensions <n holders, ami th** fact
that the immediate wauls of purchasers had been
ju a good measure supplied, only so toe 15 Ki hale*

a slight advance on those current at the close ot

that the aceounls by the Sarah Sands had reach- ;
rd the city bv private express, which caused many .
ol the factors to withhold their stocks—the Kites :
ofthe day hardy reaching 1500 bales. Thursday’s |
mail brought news of the arrival of the steamer, i
without any particular*, ami both parties with
drew from the market after some 800 bales had |
been disposed of. On Friday the market exhibit
ed more dullness than for any previous day ibis
week, nnd on summing up the business of the day j
we find the sales do not exceed 5 0 hales. This ’
dullness may be attributed in h mear-ure to the j
near approach of the next steamer's accounts and |
the want of vessels for coastw ise shipments. As
regards prices, our quotations will show an ad- |
vanre of about lc during the week, and the mar- ;
ket closes dull. The purchases of the week,
which mm up 9,300 ha hs*. hav« been principally \
lor England and the North, and the demand has
run chiefly on the finer descrip.ions.

All urdiors addressed to the siih<crib'-r will meet
with prompt attention; repairing done in good sjyle

I will say to the planters who may favor 3Tr.

resorted to the contemptible practice of slandering

fhar ,S'i r -' I have e“d the Gin bought of y.opi

to the Cotton planters of Oglethorpe and other
counties of Georgia. It turns off sufficiently/ist
to make good Cotton—it beingso saws—will throw
out aboii'. 8()0 lb. of lint a day. The quality of the
i Cotton basin Augusta ranged haU' cent higher at
each tl my talcs than other stile*.' I those days, and
it has been pronounced by those considered com

GjiAtTHoitrE County, April 22, 1817.
I have used for the last three years a machine
that was made hy 8. li. Crenshaw, of Crawford
vilie*. I cornu ier it one of the best Gins 1 have
: ever seen. Two small mules’will gin, with a
great deal of ease, three hales per day, and 1 do not
think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it in
making fine cotton. In fact, 31r. Crenshaw has
sold a great many gins in this county and Elbert,
and I think that evert man who Inis purchased is
perfectly satisfied. All of his gins which have
been sold in this county, an J they are no/ a (gw,
run light, pick fist, and w hat is better than all,
when the cotton is 1 anted to market it sells for the
very highest price. C. S. Meuriwethku.
