TO TtHE PUBLIC.—I certify that before my

especially my ankles, knees, wrists and elbows;
after w hich the -lands of my throat and neck be

excruciating pains. I was often confined entirely
to my hed,and for weeks together could not move |
my neck or turn my head. Several physicians at
tended me at different times—but they did not ap

.V out a year ago I was attacked with vomiting,
which continued every few minutes ail one night

head and face, w ith inflammation of my eyes and [
eyelids, w Inch destroyed my eye-lashes and caused
t!i- hair to fall from off my head, and soon tiled is

causing the skiug to crac open, when the blood
would run out. Smn *ofmy li tiger nails came off-

in this condition I culled upon Dr. J.W NE, in or.

CO F TON.—BBinee onr review* of Wednesday
last, we have had a dud and unsettled market,
and prices have had a downward tendency. In
fact, we may say vv • have had no market at all, f. r
Eeners have shown nodi-position to subin t to anv
decline. Irora ilie prices paid since the receipt of
ibe Caledonia’-. advices, and llia majority ofibera
have withdrawn their offjring stocks; on the other
hand, buyers claim a concession of J a 4 cent, and
• ven at ihis decline they are. reluctant operators.
This side of ihtug* has been brought about by the
unfavorable intelligence received from ihe Savan
nah, Charleston and Northern markets, and the
high prices previously paid in I Ids market, in antici
pation of more favorable advices from Europe, and
may probably coot no : until the receipt of the
steamer's advices of Ith inst, n vv nearly due—af
ter which tiin *we look for a more settled market.

GROCERIES. —There has been a fair business
dune in the grocery line this week with the inte
rior of the State, Alabama and Tennessee, and
seine of our principal merchants have been kept
busy in filling orders. Their stocks are full, and
tlie best evidence that can be gixen of the mode
rate profits with which they are satisfied is the
speedy an ! increasing sale of their goods.
CORN’.—This ar’icle has a downward tenden

cels at prices ranging from Cn to 70 cents —ihe
latter price for sacks, sacks included.

holders generally are asking higher prices Loose
is still sold from stores nt 45 cents per bushel, and
some of our merchants are su .plying the or

not believe anything of a lot could he. purchased
at this price. The only transaction that lias been
reported to us is a small lot of sacks at $1 63 per
sack.
