A number of cases of gout have been cured by Shis preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted will) it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his tailing the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before, he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, This medicine increases the powers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all \ unnatural enlargements are reduced, it imparts i tone and vitality to the whole system, removing j sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wardering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has ( - been taken forsome time, no matter for wh t pur- ( nose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say thatsome of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bnmcliocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; hut want of room in this sheet precludes their pu|dica ion at litis time. CANCER. ( [ An interesting cose cured by Jayru-'s Alteram e, i In the spring of 1331, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of 31 rs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem, N. J. it was examined by many Physicians, and was considered byall as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used : without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation ofeminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gent!erne*i. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all p resent a cancer of the most malignant Chirac- ! ter. In-ahout three months, afterenduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to gel about again. tshe remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the ; springof 1837, upwards of five years after herbteast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple i f the rigid breast, previous toils removal. This tumor steadi -1 v increased for several months, and became so j painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un derthe right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and a hard, irregular, ami at times painful tumour, ap * pea red in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole hodyappear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. Bhe was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made w ith this Alterative. It was at first given ii small doses, three times a day, and (be doses very gradu ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around ttje tumour was wet night and i morning With a strong solution of lodine and liy driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto- ! gelher. and the tumourswelied out at the base.and became soft, and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in h r left breast, and those in her rigid axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards;and hergeneral health, which had been so had for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effec/ually and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen rases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton's Bridge,N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her wind pipe,a- large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative fur about t*ur months. Miss R S .South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement ~F the throat, which filled the entire spaee between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced aw ful ds formity. It commenced growing when she was hut rive years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en* I iargemenl; and site has now as smooth and pretty ! a neck as can be tound. Dear Sir; I have used the Gin bought of you for two years ami 1 very cheeiTnTy recommend it to the Colton planters of Ogle.horpe and other I counties of Georgia. It turns off sufficiently fast to make good Cotton—it beingso saws—w ill throw out about 800 lb. of lint a day. The quality ol the Cotton bas in Augusta ranged half cent h.gher at I each of my sales than other sales of those days, and it has been pronounced by those considered com petent to j nitre—as in no way inferior to the Cava Gin. This is to certify that 1 purchased one of Mr. S. R.
