disease?- originating from a depraved or Impure
state of the Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has not oflered
this preparation to their notice without dne reflec
tion, and close and rigid slimy, nor until after
twelve y*-ars‘ experience had manifested its great
superiority over evert' other article of ihe kind,
and lie now recommends it with confidence, hilly
believing that the above combination of medicine
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of disease some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
I (.. prescribed it in almost every variety of
disease and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affect ions, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
• Cancer and Cancerons Tumors.
Ue has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case hut one with perfect and
entire succtss.
Jlronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred ca® -s of
"■oitre.and it ha> never failed in a single instance
to completely remove the disease. .Not a solidary
case of failure. Ail were cured.
The m cce-ss he has met with in curing hronrho
cele andgcmceroiis affections Ims convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed tvtt.h as much certainty as Fever and
Ague 7'! e does not wish to be understood as say
ing lhai they car. be cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much cerlu'n-.ty; and further, that
be good reason for believing tlial this prepara
tion w ill not only < tire these diseases when Surmed,
hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in tic from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as wall as that ofscrofula emanate.
Scrofula— King’s lit il.
This preparation has been n®ed in numerous cases
of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings,
and always with the most dec! led success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt
.rheum, or tetter, hil s, blotches,.pimples, murphew
and jaundiced skiii,&c.
Dyspepsia jind Diver Complaint.
II ha*. been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, £t>d with \ he happiest effect, ,
Tic-!)oii!onreiiz.
It has'been used in several-cases of .Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a gik at
many cases of chronic rheumui.-m, ami in every
casein which ii was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed*
(•out.
A number of cases of gout have been cured by
this preparation, in one at these cases, the man j
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen i
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to his taking ,
the Alterative he laid been confined to his room;
but before U* had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about thestr«ut® and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he uao .-■*» Inner
been excluded by his afflictions.
Dropsical Swellings.
Thismedicine increases the powers of digestion, j
■exelites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
■which watery or calcareous depositions, and ail
unnatural enlargements are reduced, it imparls
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sfck and morbid headaches.giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken fur some time, no matter for whit pur
pose, tbe general health ol the patient has always
been improved ny it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some ;
of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
rer, hronchucele, and scrofula, have been cured by j
thismedicine. that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
ion at this time.
CANCER.
An interesting case cured bp Jayne's A’ferunve.
In the spring of I S3l . a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of.llrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It w. s examined ny many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore ail the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means ol removi gil were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and p.xnfuloes- . miil all hope j
of saving tier life, but by a painful operation, was j

Physicians, was performed, Jan 1• t. D id. by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the j
proprietor,*arid two other medical gent'emen. Th •
whole and entire right breast was removed, and al
ter examination ol the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant diame
ter. In about three months, afterendtirinp incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again, .'-he remained feeble, j
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the*
springof 1837, upwards office years alter her breast
had been removed, a painful turner made its ap
pearance on the right sine, immediately over .he ,
part formerly' occupied by the nipple ol the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, an i became so
painful as to deprived her of lest. '1 lie glands un
fertile right arm were enlarged; and seirrhus, and
a hard, irregular, and at tim-s painful tumour, ap- i
peared in the left breast. N<« operation could now
arrest thedisease. Indeed her whole body appear
ed to be ft mass of disease. Her case was consid

over and around the tumour was wet night and
morning with a s'rong solution of lodine and Hy

ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times
very painful, when the jrrtn strflffenlyceased alto
gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con
tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of
disease was removed. The tumour in her left
breast, and those m her right axilla were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards; and her general health, w Inch
had been so bad fur. fourteen years a- to make life a
burthen, was effectually and permanently restored. •
The proprietor is in possession of the diseased
breast, and those vv ho choose may examine it. He
would also say that he could mention over a dozen
cases equally interestingi^*.herein his Alterative
has subdued cancer and cwPerous tumours, but he
has not room hereto record.them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J.,
had a goitrous tumour un the left side of her vv ind
pipe.a® large as the halt of an orange, w hich was
cured by using this Alterative fur about four
months.
Miss R S .South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement pf the |
throat, which filled the entire spate between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on
each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de- i
fortuity. It commenced growing when she was
but five years old. and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at which lime she •
commenced using this Alterative, w hich site took
for seven months, which entirely reduced the en- 1
largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty
a neck as can be lound. The proprietor is not at
-jherty to give her name in print, but w ill refer per
sons to her.
