This preparation has been used in numerous cases of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, and always with the most deci ed success. Skin Diseases. Tie has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples,raorphew and jaundiced skin,&c. Dyspepsia ami I>iver Complaint- It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest eilec t. Tic-Douloureux. It ha? been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. Tiiis preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rhenmaism, and in every rase in w hich it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed* Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen vearsas to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative lie had been confined to his room; hut before lie had finished the third hot’le, he was enabled to w alk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his afflictions. Dropsical Swellings, Tiiis medicine increases the pow ers of digestion, excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches,giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where ilie medicine has been taken for some, time, no matter for vvh t pur pose, the general health of the patient lias always been improved oy it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the. most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, hronCihocele.and scrofula, have been cured r»y this medicine, that have ever been recorded; hut want of room in this sheet precludes their publica ion at this time. CANCER. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peier Stretch, of Salem, N.J. It wasexamined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All provable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation ot eminent Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, tlie proprietor, and two other medical gent'emen. The whole and entire right breast was rente—d, and af ter examination ol the tumor. was pionojnced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. I*i about three months, after enduring incredi hie suffering?, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to gel about again, ."he remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, a- in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards office years after her hi east had b**en removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and sdrrhus, and a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest thedisea>e. Indeed her whole bodyappear ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. 9he was of a very scrofulous habit, both her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption. The experiment was now made with ibis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, ami the doses very gradu ally, hut steadily increased daily, as lung as she look it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy drtodaie Potash. The tumour continued increas ing in size for about six weeks, and was at limes very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft and then began to diminish, and con tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of disease was removed. The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so had for fourteen years as to make life a burthen, was effec ualiy and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would al«o*ay that he could mention over a dozen cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and canceroustumours,but he has not room hereto record them. *- Mrs, Sarah Young, of Quit.ton’s Bridge, N. J., ud a g< itrutis tumour on ’he left side of her w ind pipe, as large as the half of an orange, w hich was cured by using this Alterat vc fur about four months. Miss II S South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was a!?<- cured of an enlargement of toe throat, which tilled the entire spaee between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind iu r ear*, and fre m ’,er ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de fonnity. It commenced growing when she was but five years old. and continued gradually to in crease until she wa? nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the en largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found.
