Dysjtepsifi anti Liver Complaint. Nervous Diseases,
Dropsical Swellings, Constitutional Disorders ami
diseases originating from a depraved or hnjiare
state of the Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has not offered
this preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and ritrid study, nor until alter
twelve years’ experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other anode ot rite Kind.—
and he now recommends it with confidence, lull\
believing that the ahov® combination of medicine
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of disease some of which have hereto! ore been con
sidered incurable.
Hr* has prescribed it in almost every variety of
disease aim ivifh unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
Cancer ami Cancerous Tnir.ors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer aid cancerous m
mors, and in every case but one with perfect titid
entire success.
Hronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled NecV.l
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it ha« never failed in a single instance
to completely remove the disease. Nut a solitary
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing hroncho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty a-- Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to he understood as say
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that
be has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that ofscrofulaemanate.
Scrofula —King’s Fail.
This preparation has been used in numerous cases
oTScroiula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings,
and always with the most deci ed success.
Skia Diseases.
He has prescribed itin a great variety of culane

and jaundiced skin, &c.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-Douioureuz.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumaism, and in every
casein which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed’
Lout.
A number of cases of gout have been cored by
this preparation. In one o< these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen,
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to hi- room;
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his busbies, from w hich he bad so long
■ been excluded by his afflictions.
Dropsical Swellings,
This medicine increases the powers of digestion,
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, hy
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all
unnatural enlargements are reduced. It ini parts
tone and vitality Jo life whole system, removing
nick and morbid headaches,giddiness, wandering
painsand nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken forsome time, no matter for wh t pur
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
of the, mosjaaittuishing of skin diseases, can
cer, bron cnoceTtv, an dsc r'o ful a, have been cured i>y
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
ion at this time.
CANCER.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem, N.J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, ;
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. Ail probable means of removing it wen* used
without the •lightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painful ness, until all hone
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, w hich, after a consultation pi eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted bv Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The ,
whole and entire right breast was tferoo*'M, and as- j
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, afterenduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled. though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before, in the
spring of 1837, upwards of five.years after her hi east
had been removed, a painful turn ir made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediate over the
{>art formerly occupied by the nipple of the rigid
ireast, previous to its removal. This tumor stead i
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and seirrhus, and
a hard, irregular, and at limes painful tumonF, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest lhedisea.se. Indeed her whole body appear
ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
both her parents having died of Pulmonary con
sumption. The experiment was now made with
this Alterative. It was at first given in small
doses, three times a day, and the. doses very gradu
ally, hut steadily increased daily, as long as site
took it, which was about six months, and the skin
over and around ibe tumour was wet night and
driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas
ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times .
very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto
gether, and the tumoursvvelled out at the base.and
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con
tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of
disease was removed. The tumour in her left
breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards;and her general health, which
had been so bad fur fourteen years as to make life a
burthen, was effectually ami permanently restored.
The proprietor is in possession of the diseased
breast, and those who choose may examine it. He
would also say that he coaid mention over a dozen
cases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative
has subdued cancerand cancerous tumours, but he*
has not room hereto record them.
** Mrs, Sarah Young, of Quinton's Bridge. N. J.,
ad a goitrous tumour on the left sale of her wind
pipe,as large as the half of an orange, w hich was
cured by using this Alterative fur about four
months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire spaee between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on
each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de
fortuity. It commenced growing when -she was
but five years old. and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at w hich time she
commenced using this Alterative, which she took j
for seven months, which entirely reduced the en
largement; and she has now OS wyooih and pretty
a neck as can he found. The proprietor is not at
jberty to give her name in print, but will refer per
pona to her.

1 Dear Sir: I have Used the Gin bought of you
for two years ami I very cheerfully recommend it
to the Cotton planters of Oglethorpe and other
■counties of Georgia. Ii turns off sufficiently fast
to make goad Cotton—it beingso saws—will throw
out about SOU lb. of lint a day. Tite quality of the
Cotton has in Augusta ranged half cent higher at
each ofmv sales than other sales of those days, and
it has been pronounced by those considered com
petent to judge—as in no way inferior to the Cava
Gin. S ours very respectfully,
F. Merriwether.

Oglethorpe County, April 22, 1817.
I have used for the last three years a machine
that was made hy 8. R, Crenshaw, of Crawford
vilie. I consider itone of the best Gins 1 have
ever seen. Two small mules will gin, with a
great deal of ease, three bales per day, ahd 1 do not
think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it in
making fine cotton. In fact, Mr. Crenshaw has
sold a great many gins in this county and Libert,
and 1 think that every man who has purchased is
perfectly satisfied. All of his gins which hive
been sold in this county, and they are not u lew.
run light, pick fast, and what is better than all,
w hen the cotton is carried to market it sells for the
very highest price. C. 8. Alerri wether.

Mr. JD. Ham muck —l certify that 1 bought of
S. U Crenshaw, last year, afortv-five saw anti
! friction Cotton Gut, which performs well ami
makes as good cotton as the Carver Gins, in my
opinion. P. G Rhomb.
This is to certify that I purchased one of .Mr. 8.
1 R. Crenshaw’s improved anti friction Cotton Gins
last year, and find it to he superior to any Gin I
have ever used. 1 think it superior to tite Cafver
Gins. It makes superior cotton, giving the true
staple of the article, and gins 9bo lbs. of clean cot
ton per day, and runs very light.
