The extraordinary success attending the u e
of this medicine in the diseases of the lungs, and
the many singular cures it has effected, n ving
naturally attracted the attention of many physi
cians, as well as the whole fraternity of qu teks,
various conjectures and surmises have arisen re
specting its composition; some physicians have
supposed it to contain iodine, other ignorant pre
tenders .-av it must contain mercury, and to some
such substance they each attribute us singular ef
ficacy. As such opinions are altogether errone
ous, and calculated to prejudice rnanv persons
against if, we PLEDGE OUR HONOR that it
contains nothing of this kind, nr any thing the
least injurious; on tne contrary, it is composed of
the rnoslsiinple substances, the principal ol which
are the extracts of tar and wild cherry bark, and
the whole secret of its efficacy consists in lire
mode by which they are prepared.

PROFESSOR OF DISEASES OF WOMEN.
I Third Edition, 18 mo. pp. 250. Price $1 bo.]
5?<5,000 COPIES SOLI) l.\ THREE MONTHS!!!
The great demand for this most important work,
(of which thousands are sold) has compelled the
issue of a another edition, it is intended especi
ally for the married, as it discloses important se
crets which should be known to them particularly.
Here every female can discover the causes,/>ymp
lorus, and tlie most efficient remedies and most
certain mode of cure, in every complaint to which
her sex is subject.
It is an important question to the married why it
is that we behold so many married females sickly,
debilitated, and prostrated ? as also the causes;
tnd whether they are susceptible of remedy. They
will here find those important matters, connected
wiih discoveries in medical and physiological sci
ence, which meet this question.
This work is desiine.il to be in the hands of every
wife and mother who has a regard lor her own
healih and welfare, as well as that of her hus
‘ ha m d.
The revelations contained in its pages have al
ready proved a blessing to thousands, as the innu
merable letters received by tlie author will at
test.
It is of course impossible to convey more fully,
in a public journal, the various subjects treated of,
as they are of a nature strictly intended for the
married or those contemplating marriage; neither
is it necessary, since it is every one’s duty to be
come possessed of knowledge, whereby the suf
ferings to w hich a w ife, a mother, or a sister may
be subject, can be obviated.
