Tim proprietor of this Alterative would most re ts assure the public that fie has not offered j this prcpai-fctioA to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after sweive years' exp eric tree had manifested its great ' a uperiority over every other article of the hind,— ! n « he now rfecounnends it with confidence, fully 1 1 lie v ng that 'ue above combination of medicines w ll eftjcti uly eradicate from the system* a class of o.te i es some oi which have iieretoioiV been iron- i sidereu incurable. He has prescribed it in almost everv variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating: from obstruction or enlargement ot the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. • Broncliocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing hroncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and homble diseases mav be i removed with as much Certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that they can he cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has "ood reason tor believing that tins prepara- j tiou will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar cla»s oi diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate, Scrofula—King’s Evil. I his preparation has been used in numerous rases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of entane- i ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew . and jaundiced skin, Arc. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. If has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest efiect. Tic-Donlonreux. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in everv case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for fire months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; hut before he bad finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long | been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swellings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion ■ excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts j tone and vitality to the whole system, removing i sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- Eose, the general health of the patient has always een improved by it. ’ i In conclusion, the proprietor Avordd say that some i • of’the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can- i ce*, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured bv this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but 1 want of room in this sheet precludes their pubiica- I tion at this time. Cancer, Ail interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe. ♦ ife of Peter Strettb. of Salem N. J. It was examined bv many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. AJJ probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in- j crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope I of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, bv Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by ! all present a cancer of the most malignant charac- j ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in i spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, ; and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the ! spring of 1837, upwards of five, years after her breast j bad been removed, a'painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi- j ly increased for several months, and became so ■ painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged} and scirrhus, and aha rd, irregular, and at times’painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to he a mass of disease. Her case* was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, j three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or j scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and i her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases coually inter esting, his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them, Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton's Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of au orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S——, South Fourth-street, Phila- | delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced grow ing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced I using this Alterative, which she took for seven ; months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; ; and she has now' as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, sep 28 ly 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. BRUSHES. EVERY variety of Hair, Tooth. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new' applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection. The Galvanic Bings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and cettain in accomplishing th** desired effect. The Galvanic Kings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in ai! disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those Complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, w ithout exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the N ervous system—and it was in these cases that other “ remedies ” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly heeded, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Kings have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs : Gtml. Tic- Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis , Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses , Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp , Palpitation of the Heart, Ap puple.vy. Stillness of Joints. Spinal Complaints. Lum bago,' Neuralgin, Nervous Tremo'S, Dizziness lit the Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil ity, Di fciency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and i all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia, w hich is simply a nervous derangement of | the digestive organs, they have been found equally 1 successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the 1 system must be witnessed to he believed, and as a j certain Preventive for the preceding complaints j they are equally recommended. The Kings are of | different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va- ; rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn bv the | most delicate female without the slightest incon- j venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea- j ble than otherwise. The Galvanic BoDs, Bracelets, Bands* ■ Garters, Necklaces, &c. In some of a very severe character and of | long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Kings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis ease and ultimately to restore health. The ini pro V- j ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, j entirely remedies this objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body w ith j perfect convenience. The Galvamc'Necklaces, are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally; also in cases of Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and i similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rlno-s and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemist? to he one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic action, by these means causing a circulation of tiie 1 influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. The : Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it | is as harmless iu its action as it is beneficial in its I result. The combined inventions are in everv way i perfectly harmless ; they arc at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters, These articles form another valuable application and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Kings and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in tin* speedy (jure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous ; complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and arc highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; ! as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a I Preventive for Golds, and in ail affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob jections which are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. [fjr'The great celebrity and success of these ar- | tides have caused them to be counterfeited by un principled persons. To provide against impositions, Dr. Christie has but one authorized agent in each city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta, 1 Geo., is at the Store of HAVILAND, RISLEY & CO., Druggists. THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitated the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessarv Foil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another. To obviate j this. Physicians have long sought for an Agent that would at the some time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired ot success when the labors of science and research, were rewarded hr a diseov- ! ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy ! lias ever achieved. This important desideratum is j named Dr. Ee Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pi!bs. Which Purify the Blood., and remove all corrupt and filiated humors , and unhealthy accumulations from i the body in a manner never before rivalled, and j which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what- ; ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and ; invigorate the constitution during Ihc progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy's Pills, in fact, unite i those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable j qualities, Evacuation and Tnrifforation, for thev are j at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC, The two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s 1 Pills are WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA. | So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while | the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus thev su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the«Diges tjve Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. Dr. Le Roy’s Fills are the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and tliis secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
