COW!!V!SRCZAL REVIEW.
Since the departure of the Caledonia, of the 19th ■
ult. trade in general has assumed a more healthy t
appearance. Great confidence exists in commer
cial circles—food is cheaper—money can be pro- *
cured with greater facility, and hopes are enter
tained that with the. continuance ot fine weather,
and a renewed activity in the manufacturing dis
tricts. we shall again experience prosperity, and <
once more have plenty of food at cheap prices. 1
There has been more animation in the Cotton y
market during the past fortnight than we have had
occasion to record for some weeks back. 1 his is *
no doubt caused in a great degree by the improve- i
nient observable in the state of trade in the maim- j
factoring districts, the declining tendency of the j
grain markets, and the splendid weather, which is |
Forcing forward the crops towards maturity. The J
sales for the week ending June 24, were 54,400 f
bales, and included 9800 on speculation and 5530 j
bales for expo t. The advance for American and .
Surats was fu.ly |d per lb. Most descriptions of
long staple obtained from Jd to per lb. more mo- I
ney than on any previous week. )
The imports from the 18th to the 23th amounted
to 1G,981, and from the 25th to the Ist, 8,701 bales. *
The sales from the 25th of June to the 2d July a
mounted to 72,720 bales, and included 28.8U0 on 1
speculation, and 6,720 for expert. Trices of all
descriptions were \<\ per lb. higher. It i.s but pro- i
per to remark, that a rumor prevails in Liverpool I
that the Cotton crop in Egypt is likely to be very '
short this year, consequently sales to a greater ex- ;
tent than usual have been made to speculators,
who have paid higher prices.
[From Will me r 4" Smith’s European Times, July 4.]
Liverpoo Cotton Market
REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING JUNE 25.
The middling and inferior qualities of American
and .Surat Cotton are |J. per lb. higher during the
week; Brazil |d.j Egyptian and other description
remain unchanged. The trade have been the
leading operators, on Monday taking upwards of
JOJXJO the demand from them has been kept
up throughout the whole of the week, and we close
to-day with the advance above mentioned firmly
maintained. Seven days later accounts have been
received from America, which show the receipts
at the different ports to be steadily on the decrease,
the difference during the week, compared with the
same period last year being 16.000 bales, making a
total deficiency of 264.000 bales. The accounts
are rather better from Manchester, the demand
there being pretty good, and in some cases some
what higher prices have been obtained; but spin
ners ami manufacturers require a considerable ad
vance vet to make their trade a profitable business. ,
American 5700. 4000 Surats and 100 Pc mams have
been taken on speculation; and 8870 American, •
*l6O Surats, and 690 Tenuous for exsort. The sales
for the week amount to 54,490 — Geo. Holt Jp Co.
REPORT FDR THE WEEK ENDING JULV 2.
Wc have passed a week of considerable excite
ment as far as regards the extent of business. The
•sales each day have been large, and on Wednesday I
‘nearlv 20,000 bags changed hands; yesterday and
This morning we have been comparatively quiet.—
'The demand has extended itself not only to Ame
rican descriptions, but to all classes of Cotton, and
we have to raise the scale of our quotations |d per
4b. since Friday last. 'The trade have been down ,
with us in great -numbers, and have made their pur- i
v-hases, which have been considerable, with much
spirit and confidence, speculators and exporters j
taking likewise a large share. The past week of
favorable weather, on which life extent of the ap
proaching harvest so much depends, and the large
Tallin the Grain market, added to which the crop
question being now pretty well ascertained, fias
established growing confidence in the present scale
of our quotations of Cotton, The account 6 lately
"received from America still show a falling oft in the
receipts ‘at the ports, the .total deficiency being
now 27ft.fHIO bales. 20.7P0 American, 5500 Surat,
ami 2500 Egyptian have been taken on speculation;
.nd 4150 American, 170 SuVat, and 400 Pern ams
for Export. Sales of the week 72,720 bales.— Ged.

Sand’s Sarsaparilla.
Evory plant and flower in the universe teaches
us by its simple power in the cure of diseases—that
none of God’s creations are in vain. As numerous i
and various as the products of the vegetable king- *
dom, are the diseases to which man is subject—
and surely we may believe that in the great cabi
net of Nature which is opened to us, every- one of
these ills may find its balm. Let hundreds then
who have given themselves up to despair still hope.
In Sands’ Sarsaparilla has been discovered a '
certain remedy for many diseases which have hith
erto baffled all skill. In cases of Scrofula, Chronic
Rheumatism, obstinate Ulcers, and diseases which j
***** from an impure state of the blood, it never
fails.

could not learn. There were buyers at $5, and!
sellers at $5 50 for Genesee. For mixed brands
prices were nominal.
No sales of w heat were made—the telegraphic ;
despatch gives no quotations.

8260—leaving a stock on hand at date 59,754 bales, j
against 32,378 last season, and 453 bales the year
previous.
Our ta**t review left the market quiet, but very
firm, awaiting European advices to the 19th June, ;
then fully due. The business of Saturday amount
ed to 300 bales, wilhnnt any change in rates. The 1
telegraphic account of the Caledonia’s arrival a;
Boston, reached us on Sunday, and on Monday the ■
foreign letters and circulars came to hand, advising
an advance in cotton of sd. per pound, and a )
much improved condition in mercantile affairs gen
erally. The prospects of the harvest wtre cn- ,
conragime, and money easier, though the demand j
for cotton was not very brisk. The d»>' these ac- :
counts were received was unusually wet and
stormv, and only 300 bales changed hands, hut on
the following day h brisk inquiry was noticed, and
sales were effected to' the amount of 1500 bales,
though without any, change in prices. On Wed
nesday 800 hales were disposed of, holders stiffen
ing up a little, and on Thursday the sales reached
1300 bales. Yesterday* owing to advancing pre
tensions of factors, purchasers refused to operate, i
and we did not hear of a single transaction. We
leave the market very quiet, but remarkably firm,
and with a disposition on the part of holders to en- j
hane’e prices. Our quotations vary but little from .
those of last week. The qualities ’front middling
fair upward being much sought for, ana relatively )
scarce, we advance our figures'slightly for these
descriptions. In a few instances higher prices have
been realized, hut they are not sufficiently impor- 1
tant for a further notice. < The sales of the week j
sum up 4200 bales-, chiefly for the English market, i

—Citizens of the United States, with pleasure 1
inform you of the great success of Humphreys’ En
ver and Ague Pills, throughout Georgia, South
Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Ac. Up to the Bth
of the present month I have had four hundred and
eighty-three cases of this d stressing complaint, and
out of this large number I have failed only in four
cases, and 1 can safely say the failure is on their
own side, and not mine. This medicine is now
found in all parts of this and the adjoining States,
where it is recommended by the most respectable
families, and the best recommendation is, it is prov
ing itself to he an infallible remedy for Fever and
Ague. It is my own discovery, an*! is one of the
best medicines ever invented for this dreadful dis
ease—curing in twelve hours. Prepared and sold
