CHER AW, July 27 .—Cotton. —We have no
transactions to note with the exception of a stored
lot of about twenty bales, fair, sold to Marlboro*
factory at 11 £c.
Corn —Sales have been made at 50 cents per
bushel.
Flout ' —Sales $4 to $4 50.
MOBILE, July 21.— Collon.— Received during
the week 214 bales, and there have been export
ed 7266—leaving a stock on hand and on shipboard
not. cleared last evening 52,693 bales, against 27.031
same time last year.
Our last review left the market quiet though
very firm, with a disposition on the part of holders
to advance their rates—middling quoted at 10 cts.
In the first three days of our commercial week a
fair business was done, the sales reaching about
2500 bales. Since then only some 700 bales have
changed hands. The market closes with much
firmness, holders in no instance pressing their
stocks, and buyers evincing very little inclination, |
to operate, both parties waiting later foreign ad
vices, which are now about due by express? Nor
can we expect that much will be done until they
are received and digested. The transactions of
the week foot up 3200 bales:—6oo on Saturday
1000 Monday, 900 Tuesday, 300 Wednesday, 100
Thursday, and 300 Friday. We continue last
week’s quotations, remarking that some few lots of
the lower grades have been sold lower than our
figures.

ments to notice. The ships on the berth have fil- 1
led at the last rates, say sd, for Liverpool and hjc.
for Havre. Coastwise, a ship taken for New York
at Jc., and a schooner for Richmond at Ic. We have
had some accession to our tonnage, and the rates to
ail ports not so firm as this day week.
NEW ORLEANS, July 24.- Cotton.— Arrived
since the 16fh instant, 800 bales. Cleared in the |
same time 18,716 bales—making a reduction in
stock ol 1 t .93 / bales, and leaving on hand, inclusive
of all on ship board not cleared on the 23d instant
a stock of 90,596 bales.
At the date of our last report the Cotton market
had been brought almost to a complete stand by
the scarcity of vessels, which precluded the possi
bility of effecting freight engagements. This im
pediment to business continued in force during sev- 1
eral days of the early part of the week, and the 1
transactions of Saturday' did not exceed 1800 bales. !
in which was included a list of about 1500 bales
North Aiabamas. On Monday and Tuesday the i
market was wholly inactive, scarcely 300 hales
having been disposed of during the two days; and
although since then the facilities for effecting ship
ments have been materially increased by the ar
rival of a number of sea vessels, the market has not
yet assumed any considerable activity. On Wed
nesday the sales were 2000 bales, on Thursday 1000
and yesterday 1500; making a total for the'week
of 6600 bales, taken mostly for England and the !
Continent, with a few parcels for tiie North. There !
appear to be but few buyers disposed to operate, I
and the proximity of the Britannia’s accounts, !
which may be considered due here to-morrow or
next day, disinclines parties to enter into new trans
actions until further advised of the position of the
European markets. As regards prices, they have
undergone no material change for Louisiana* and
which are comparatively scarce, and ■
therefore well sustained at our last week’s figures; I
but for North Aiabamas and Tennessees, which
compose the great bulk of the stock, holders have j
, had to yield slightly from their asking rates for the ;
few round lists that have been taken. Our figures ;
fer these, therefore, which as we stated, were pre- j
Viously nominal, have been reduced,

EAGLE TRIPOLI.
A REMARKABLE mineral, pronounced bv j
a-lL geologists to be a great rarity in nature, and
known to them by the name of Tripoli, has lately
been discovered in this country, although but in one
bed, of very narrow limits, all owned by the ‘-Mount
Eagle Manufacturing Company," incorporated for !
| the sole purpose of its manufacture.
The article is excellent for burnishing and clean- j
ing all finished metallic and glass surfaces, such as
gold, silver, brass, Britannia and steel ware, win
dow glass, Ac. Nothing has ever yet been discov
ered equal to the pure Tripoli, and the common
language of the consumer is. it is the best thing I
ever saw. The genuine article is for sale by the
exclusive agent for Augusta. WM. HAINES.
