He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially m cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu- j mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchqcele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho rele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and i Ague. He does not wish to he understood as say- j ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and | Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that j he has good reason for believing that this prepara- j tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula cmanat e j Scrofula—King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous ' cases of scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success.. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane ous affections, and found it successful in ciiring salt rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin, Ac. Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint. It has been used in numerous Casfes of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect, Tic-Douloureux. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful; Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swellings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting case cured by Jayne’s Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan Ist, 1032. bv I »r. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the j proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant eharac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the liart formerly occupied by the nipple of the right treast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so Sainful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un er the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, coth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Ilydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diudmsh, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a ffozcn cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative Iras subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah \ oung, of Quinton's Bridge, N. J.. had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the hah of an orange, which was curetl by usirtg this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S r, South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un-. til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a geek as can be found. MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West chester County New York. Tarrytown, Aug. 9, 1814. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman's Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, tone of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, us I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in mv breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection. The Galvanic Kings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects art more safe and ter to. in in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which anse from an enfeebled or un healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are sub ject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause —a derangement of the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism.
