Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori ginating from a depraved or Impure state ot the i Blood or other fluids of the bod}'. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re- ; epectfully assure the public that he has not offered j this preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rig-id study, nor until after twelve years’ experience had manifested its great ‘ superiority over every other article of the kind, — and he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class I of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every Case but one with perfect and i •entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled ITeck.) Ho has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho cc.le and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say- i ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and i Ague, but with a* much certainty; and further, that lie has good reason for believing that this prepara- 1 tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, lint that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, us well as that of scrofula emanate Scrofula —King’s EviL This preparation has been used in numerous cases of scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulou?swell ings, and always with the most decided success. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room:; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Sw3llings, This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by < which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un- ! natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts 1 tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where tbe medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. la conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancsr. An interesting case cured by Jaime’s Alterative. in the soring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by. a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832. by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr, Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three mouths, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, us in deed it bad been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by tbe nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the* right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con buraption. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning w ith a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and w r as at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, w*as effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has sjibdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Y oung, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had (i goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space' between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her'Hioulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but live years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, sep 28 ly 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. Y irUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump iT.l, tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or I Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ; ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West ' Chester County New* V ork. Takkvtown, Aug. 9, 1841. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the year 1812 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, 1 commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few months, hut without success; I then saw’ an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary 1 think it w*as a great in i jury to me. Shortly after using it, i commenced I raising blood in large quantities; 1 w*as taken down sick and confiued to the house for three months, daring which time I lost my appetite and fell away very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis *of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city,) hut he could do me no good, j again became ' worse, and w*as confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time 1 heard of your BALSAM OF LIV’ERW()RT being good , | for consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no w*orse. My brother then pur chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and | commenced taking it, and by the time I had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the jiain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. I would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion ‘he Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor's Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be th ■ best remedy in existence for diseases ol ti.e Lu gs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I w*ill convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, ,DE REVERE. Sept. 28 ly 42 patent illibinnis. galvanic rings and Magnetic Fluid. F4AIIIS remarkable invention, which Jia« received 1 the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac., ‘ are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious ! powers of Galvanism applied without any of the I objections which are inseparable from the general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg | ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and ira -1 partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection. w Thc Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of thr most expensive Machines, and in i many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used, in connection with the i Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which arise from nit enfeebled or un- I healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those i complaints are among the most painful anil luiiver -1 sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire 1 success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout. Tic- Doloreux, Toothache, Prdhchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick Heat’ache. Indigestion, Paralyses , Palsy. Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap poplexy, Stiffness of Joints. Spinal Complaints, Lnm | ho go, Neuralgia, Nen'ovs Tremors , Dizziness of the I Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debit- I ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of I the digestive organs, they have been found equally i successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain Preventive for the preceding complaints I they are equally recommended. The Rings ure of : different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea | ble than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, Ace. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic i Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis- I ease ami ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Hells, Jiraretets , Spr., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are used with greater benefit in cases of Jtronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Kings, j and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to he one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic action, by these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seiit of disease, ftnd thus giving ra pid and permanent relief. No other composition in l chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing Capable of the | slightest its application is agreeable, and it , is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. The combined inventions are in everyway perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, hut having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of Pain and Weakness in the ('best or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. I In a few words, it embraces all the virtues ot the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob jections which are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. djTThe great celebrity and success of these ar ticles have caused them to be counterfeited by un- Imncipled persons. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim for it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all j diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom mend its use, from my personal observation and use j of the article in ray own practice. This article is favorably received wherever it has been used. I j am allowed to refer to .Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. MeKaffee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William I). Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimonv to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his j own caste, and has prescribed it to many others, 1 gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest j and most valuable medicines that can he used in j imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation ! and irregular slate of the bowels, it is useful in billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil lions fevers.and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to cosfiveness, this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowtely, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. , . . I could append a long list of certificates, hut for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi- ; cine to sustain itself. 'I lie medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM,E atonton, Ga. Price $1 —For sale by A. G. WILLIS. March 11 DR. LE ROYS VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS. THR startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents lias ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitated the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another. To obviate this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly they had almost despaired of success when the labors ot science and research, were rewarded hv a discov ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy ! has over achieved. This important desideratum is ! named Ur. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Fills. Which Purify the blood, and remove all wrrupt and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy's Pills, in fact, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities. Evacuation and Imiip'oration, for they are at the same time a STRENGTHEN ING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. '1 he two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s i Pills are WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the benelicial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su- ’ perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at- | tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. J Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack i the very root of Diseases, and their action is so ! prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, hut also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
