The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has mt offered l uis preparation to their notice without due reiiec *ion, and close and rigid study, nor until after ' * welve years' experience had manifested its great Superiority over every other article of the kind. — a nd he now recommends it with confidence, fully I believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class oi diseases some of which have heretofore been con- i sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of i diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the*glaads or impuri- i ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of Cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. This preparation has been prescribed in a great ntany cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every ra.f* in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease w as removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout hate been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afilicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to w r alk about the streets and soon after re turned to hi* business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swellings. • This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by w'hich watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing Sick and morbid Vscadtiohes, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case w r here the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for wdiat pur- Cose, the general health of the patient has always een improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can •cef, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by .this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room iu this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An inte’resting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem N. J. It w r as examined by many iTysicians, anil was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, bat by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, alter a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by .all present a cancer of the mast malignant eharac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast Jiad been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the ?art formerly occupied by the nipple of the right reast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the lelt breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con sumption, Tlie experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over ami around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, ami was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her fight exiila were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four jtgen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here so record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s-Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R" - S——-, South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her- neck to behind her ears, and from her cars to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but live years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty/ to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by ♦WM. K. KITCHEN, sep 21) ly 2 Sole Agent for Georgia, BRUSHES. MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver pr j Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West chester County New York, Takrytown, Aug, 9, 1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In tha year 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Haying heard that Sherman's Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had j not the least effect on rne 4 I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few months, hut without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it. on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, 1 commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confiued to the house for three months, during which time I lost my appetite and fell away very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the a city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became 1 worse, and was confined to the house all last winter i and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting ! any better, as I again raised blood and my cough j was very severe, together with a pain in nay j breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends 1 now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF LIV ERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; 1 | however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and i commenced taking it, and by the lime I had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still i keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the ! pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no ) more blood. Within the last tw r o months I have I gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. I would therefore, adv se all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on roe, and 1 will convince him of its I virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE. TJAIIIS remarkable invention, which has received j A the almost universal approbation of the Medi- | cal Profession of. Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, See., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are inseparable from (he general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied bv the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection The Galvanic Rings answer all the purpose* of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects me more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un healthy state of the nervous or vital si/stem, and those complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise., without exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that I other “ remedies " having so often failed, a new ; agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout. Tic- Duloreux , Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo , Nervous ; or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, : Epilepsy , Fits, Cramp. Palpitation of (lie Heart, Ap poplexy, Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil itv, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain Preventive for the preceding complaints they are equally recommended. The Rings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea ble than otherwise. Tiie Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, &c. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis ; ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ! ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, j Sfc., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree ; of power that is required can readily be obtained. and no complaint which the mysterious agent of I Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re : lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists,.limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with i perfect convenience. The Gafvani%Necklaces, are i used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of | Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success i as a preventive for Apoplexy , Epileptic Fits, and ; similar complaints. , CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, ■ and all their modifications. This composition has 1 been pronounced by the French Chemists to be j one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod i ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable t power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic ; actum, by these means causing a circulation of the ! influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra ! pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or j to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the ! slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it j is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. The combined inventions ?!re in every way perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. Those articles fern? another valuable application and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous : complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of i Fain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side. Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness ’ or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi ! nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided | character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also ot the greatest i advantage in Pains and \\ enkness ot the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those i complaints to which females are especially liable. ; As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys ; tern when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the ! Chest, generally, the Galvanic .Strengthening Pias ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. . In a few words, it embraces till the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while life action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob jections which are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people | of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- j ; eases incident to a Southern climate. I do not claim 1 for it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all 1 diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and s Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom mend its use, from my personal observation and use of the article in my own practice- This article is favorably received wherever it has been used. I am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaftee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest 1 and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation i and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil ; lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, | this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state j of the stonfhch and bowels, and promoting digestion, ! it is particularly useful. I could append a long list of certificates, but for j bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi i cine to sustain itself . The medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM, Eatonton, Ga. Price.?:! —Eor sale by A. Gt WILLIS, i March 11 -1 DV T..E TJOV’S VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS. THE startling drawback pa nearly all Medicinal i Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitated , the Sijstrm. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded,as at best but a Necessary j Evil; Patients resorting to" them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another . To obviate this. Physicians have long sought for an Agent that | would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN, But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and thev had almost despaired of success when the labors ot science and research, were rewarded by a discov ery which fully realized the fondest desires of she Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. 'Phis important desideratum is named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which Purify the blood, and remove ail corrupt and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and i invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and lnc>p-oraH<m. (or they are at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. '1 he two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are WILD CHERRY A SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the oilier, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costivencss. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search- ! ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither rrausea, griping nr debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
