dian», are required, by law, to be held on the first Tu vs
day in the month, between the hours often in the fore
noon and three in the afternoon, at tho Court House in
which the property is situate. Notice of those sales
must be given in a public Gazette SIXTY' DAYS pre
vious to tho day of sale.
Sales of NEGROES must be at Public Auction, on the
first Tuesday of the month, between the usual hours o
4<ale, at the place of public sales in the county where
the Letters Testamentary, or Administration, or Guar
dianship, may have been granted, fir«t giving SIXTY
DAY’S notice thereof, in one of the public Gazettes o
this State, and at the door of the Court House where
such sales are to beheld.
Notice for tho sale of Personal Property must be given
in like manner FORTY DAYS previous to day of sale.
Notice to the Debtors and Creditors of an Estate must be
published for FORTY DAYS.
Notice that application will he made to the Court of Or
dinary for leave to sell LAND, must be published for
FOUR MONTHS.

BROUGHT TO JAIL.
BROUGHT to Jail in Washington,
jA Wilkes County, on the Ist of October. 184-6,
a Negro man who says his name is ROB- I
and that he belongs to Dr. Rob
ert Wiggins, of Montgomery County, Alabama,
having been sold to him by Mr. B. Warren, of Au
gusta. Said Negro is about 25 years of age, dark
complexion, steet 10 or 11 inches high, and weighs
about 150 lbs.
Ihe owner is notified to come forward, prove
property, pay charges and take him away, or he
will be dealt with as the law directs.

TO alter and amend the third section of the se
cond article of the Constitution of the State.
Whereas, The Third Section of the Second Arti
cle of the Constitution of this State reads in the
following words, to-witNo personshall be eli
gible to the Office of Governor who shall not
have been a citizen ol the United States twelve
years, and an inhabitant of this State six years,
and who has not attained to the age of thirty
years, and who does not possess five hundred
acres ot land in his own right within the State,
and other property to the amount of four thousand
dollars, and whose estate shall not on a reasona
ble estimation, be competent to the discharge of
his just debts over and above that snm—and
whereas, said property qualification is inconsist
ent with the genius of our institutions and the
Sopular spirit of the age—
