i.". ■ ~ Patent illcMclncs. —— THIS valuable preparation combines all the ■ medicinal virtues of those articles, which long ! experience has proved to possess the most safe and efficient alterative anti deobstruent properties, or the cure oi’ Scrofula, King’s Evil, White Swell- ; ings, Ulcers, Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent j 'Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections. Rkeu- \ mutism, Gout, Scurvey, Neuralgia or Tic-Doulou- j reiuc, Cancer, Goitre or Bronchocele, {swelled Neck,) Enlargements of the Hones, Joints, (Hands, or Liga ments or of the Ovaries, Liver, Spleen, S idneys, Spc. 1 All the diseases of the Skin, such as Tetter, King worm,' Tiles, Pimples, Carbuncles, SfC., Lhjspepsia 1 and Liver Complaint, Nervous Diseases, Dropsical Swellings , Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the D/ood or other fluids of the body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re- i spectlully assure the public that he has nc-t offered ! ais preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, -firtr until after twelve years' experience had manifested its great ‘‘uperiority over every other article of the .Mad. — a nd he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines w ill effectually eradicate from, the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. j He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially I in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and , scorbutic diseases,, and diseases originating from j obstruction or enlargement of the, glands or impuri- j ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards ofstwen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case hitt one with perfect and : entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. INot a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing hroncho rele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may he removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emauat e Scrofula—King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous 1 cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases, lie has prescribed it in a great variety of entane- j ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew 1 and jaundiced skin, &e. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, ' tmd in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great | many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for live months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had hetn confined to his room; hut before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. * Dropsical Sw3llings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion I excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by I which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts . -toue and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. ft fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- • nose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can- • ter, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by | this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but I want of room in this sheet precludes their publica- | tiou at this time. Cancer. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the springof 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many i Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. A-fl probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and paiafulness, until all hope of saving her life, hut by a painful operation, was abandoned, ivhich, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by ; all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ' ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi- j hie sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, , t»nd her general health was exceedingly had, as in- 1 deed it had been for several years before. In the springof 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and seirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear- j td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, «oth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumptSon. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skiu over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour ewelledout at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.- The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bud for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R 1 •S- , South Fourth-street, Phila : delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the . throat, which filled the entire space between the 1 chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her Beck to behind her ears, and from her ; ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, sep 28 !y 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. brushes. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT. 375 Bowery, N, Y, MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or ; Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ; ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West i Chester County New York. Tahuytown, Aug. 9, 1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for | the interest you have taken to relieve me in my j distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy j cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very had. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few' months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement. in one of the city papers of Wistar’s i Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three j bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but 2 could not perceive the least beneficial effect i from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in j jury tome. Shortly after using it, I commenced ! raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down sick and confiued to the house for three months, ; during which time I lost my appetite and fell away i very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis ! of New York, (one of the best physicians in the u city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and 1 gave up all hope of ever getting i any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in ray ! breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends ! now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard j of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, hut I w r as like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur. | chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and ■ commenced taking it, and by the time I had used ' one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the i morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on Diking it and find great benefit from it—the j pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have . gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. I would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. j Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe | it to he the best remedy in existence for diseases | of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the ' above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, ami I will convince him of its virtues. I i diTchristhts GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid. mIITS remarkable invention, which has received JL the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the I objections which are inseparable from the general I mode now in us,e. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im i partial trial, to he decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica ( tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and j perseverance has been brought to its present state j ot perfection. The Galvanic Kings answer all the j purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in | many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. \ The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the i Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in 1 all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un j healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those j complaints are among the most painful and univer j sal to which we are subject. They arise, without ; exception, to one single cause—a derangement of i the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that ; other “ remedies ” having so often failed, a new i agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently I believed, has been found in the proper aad judi ! cions application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire j success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic j Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis , Vertigo, Nervous I or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy. j Epilepsy, Fils, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap poplexy, Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum j bo go, Neuralgia, Ne rears Tremors, Dizziness of (he Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally ; successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the j system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain Preventive for the preceding complaints they are equally recommended. The Rings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can he worn by the most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea ble than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, A;c. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis i ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the -.'Galvanic Beits, Bracelets, ! entirely remedies this objection ; any degree j of power that is required can .readily be obtained, | and no complaint which the mysterious agent of | Galvanism can effect will fail to he permanently re ! lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, ; : wrists, lfmb§, ancle?, or any part of the body with | perfect convenience. The Galvanic are ; used with greater benefit in cases.of Bronchitis or ! affections of the throat generally; also in cases of i Nervous Deafness and with almost uniform success 1 as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and ; similar complaints, . • * , CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has i been pronounced by the French Chemists tn be one 01 the mob extraordinary discoveries of -mod j ern science. , It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic ! action, by these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of disease, ahd thus giving ja | pid and permanent relief. No other composition in ! chemistry is known to produce the same effect or i to impart a similar property to the nervous system , by means of an outward local application. The 1 Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the j slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it I is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. The combined inventions are in every .way j perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach i ! of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial, j i as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent j benefit. m f Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. I 1 ! These articles form another valuable application j and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in all nervous ■ complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases ot j Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness 1 or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi ! nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided 1 character, and they have often been used with j complete success. They are also of the greatest 1 advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. ( As an effectual means for-Strengthening the sys tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a i Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the j Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas i ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. ! In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the I best tonic preparation with the important addition i j of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob- j I jections which arc a constant source of complaint w th the ordinary Plasters in common use. JOEL BRANHAM’S LIVER AND j DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE. 1N T offering this valuable medicine to the people j of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis- i 1 eases incident to a Southern climate. Ido not claim i j tor it,, infallibility j neither do I say it will cure all ! j diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and i j Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom- I mend its use, from my personal observation and use of the article in. my own practice. This article is favorably received wherever it has yeen used. I am allowed to refer to Mr George Heard of Troup, j Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury If till of Athens, Mr. William D. Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of hallies might be added, Who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and hits prescribed it to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular state of the bowels It is useful In I billions complaints, to. persons recovering from bil lions fever*.and in sick or nervous bead ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, thismedicine is well suited. In regulating the state j of the stomach aqd bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. 1 could append a long list of certificates, but for bear. prefermg to rely on the virtues of the medi- | cine to sustain itself. THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitated I the System. Hence Purgative Medicines .have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another. To obviate 1 this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that, would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and thev had almost despaired of success when the labors of science and research, were rewarded by a discov- j cry which fully realized the fondest desires of the ' Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is j named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which 1 *wify the Blood, and remove ail corrupt j and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from : the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite I those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and htviporation. for thev are at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. Ihe two painc'pal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s ; 1 Pills are W.LD CHERRY Ac SARSAPARILLA. bo prepared that each promotes, the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. ; Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, 1 the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but ajsoon the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro- ; duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
