A gentleman of Scrofulous habits, from indis cretion in his younger days, became affected with Ulcerations of the Throat and Nose, and a disa greeable and troublesome eruption of the skin.— Indeed, his whole system bore the marks of being saturated with disease One hand and wrist were so much affected that he had lost the use of the hand, every part being covered with deep, painful, and offensive ulcers, and were as hollow and porous as a honey-comb. It was at this stage of his com plaint, when death appeared inevitable from a loathosome disease, that he commenced the use of Jayne’s Alterative, and having taken sixteen bottles, is PERFECTLY CURED. This Alterative operates through the circu lation, and purifies the Blood and eradicates dis eases from the system, wherever located, and the numerous cures it has performed in diseases of the Skin, Cancer, Scrofula, Goitre, Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, and other Chronic diseases, is truly astonishing. Our last review left it without animation, buyers and sellers both aiutkmsly await ing the steamers a-c counts of the 4th inst. A tele graphic despatch giving an outline of her advices, came to hand on Saturday evening, hut the letters were not received until Monday night. These ad vices although they show no actual decline in the Liverpool market, have given a still dnHer tone to our market, a further advance in the Liverpool market having been expected, and since their re ceipt, we have not heard of a solitary transaction, buyers demanding a concession on the psH of hold ers of fully cent froni the highest prices paid with in the past twO WePks, at which they refuse to sell, although some few holders ate billing to submit to a reduction of a£of a cent. In this state our mar ket closed last evening, with little or no Cotton of fering. The sales haVe been so trilling this week that they are not worth reporting, and we do not look for any change until we receive further Euro pean intelligence, as nearly all the Cottou on the market for sale is held under limits, from which holders show no disposition to recede. Up to this time none of the new crop has made its appearance in this market. Since we closed our enquiries, we understand a i planter’s lot, of 181 bales, an average of good mid dling, has been sold at 11J cents, which is £to §c. less than the same description of Cotton sold for a week or ten days ago. CERTIFICATES: Augusta , August 5, 1847.—We, the undersigned, having examined a sample of Cotton said to be gin ned by Mr. Thomas Wynne's Fire-Proof Cotton Gins, consider it as well ginned as any cotton we have seen in this market, and with a longer staple. We have also examined the Oil and Water Boxes, and think them a great improvement, as the oil acts and re-acts while running, which will keep them free from heat, if well used. Wm. H. Howard, E. C. Ramey, Wynnesboro' , August 3d, 1847.—We, the under signed, do certify, that one ofThos. Wynne’s Fire- Proof Gins ran seven days with one oiling with Lard, free from heat. Henry T. Hammock, IF. W. Finch, U m. S. Smith, ] Jas. C. Adams, Warren county, Feh. 3th, 1847, —I do hereby cer tify that I bought a4l saw Improved Cotton Gin from Thos. Wynne. I have ginned from eight hundred to one thousand pounds of clean cotton per day, and I would recommend all persons in want of a first-rate Gin to purchase of said Wynne. I got the highest market prices in Augusta. Nathaniel Persons. Warren county, Feb. 3th, 1847.—1 do hereby certi" fy that I have one of Mr. Thomas Wynne’s Anti- Friction Cotton Gins, 51 saws. I have ginned three heavy bales per day. I have ginned three crops with it, and think it better this last than the first crop—taking out the moats and freeing the cotton from nap. 1 have always been able to get the highest price in the Augusta market. I recom mend persons who want to purchase a first-rate Gin. to call on Mr. Wynne before they purchase, as I think they will be well pleased with the said Wynne’s Gins when tried. Thomas Persons. Wilkes county, March 21, 1847.—1 certify that I purchased last year a Cotton Gin of Thos. Wynne, of Columbia county, and ginned my iaat crop of cotton with it, and 1 can say that it is as good as the best Gin I ever used. My cotton last year was worse managed than it has been for many years firevious, owing to my plantation being a distance rom where I live, and that attention was not paid to the cotton that should have been. Notwithstand ing, ray cotton when carried to Augusta was sought for by all the cotton buyers, owing to the neatness of the cotton and freedom from nap and moats. 1 believe there is no gins in the State from which a better sample of cotton can be shown, Carver Gins not excepted.
