The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that lie has not offjPred his preparation to their notice without due reflec tion. and close and rigid study, nor until after 'welve years* experience had manifested its great Superiority over every other article of the kind, — and he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands oi impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary j case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing feroncho cele and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say- | ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that i he has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, j Out that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle ! lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate I Scrofula—-King’s Evil This preparation has been used in numerous , cases of scrofula King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been Cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for five mouths immediately previous to his taking the Alterative be had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, be was enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Droosical Swellings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion i * excites the absorbents into healthy exercise. by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting rase cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af te» examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it liad been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the risrbt breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful a? to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard. irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, coth her parents having died of Pulmonary con buruption. The experiment was now made with skis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and ihe skin oyer and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of iodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing iu size for about six weeks, and wa» at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled gut at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour iu her left breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is ' in possession of the diseased breast, and those who .choose may examine it. He would also say that be could mention over a dozen cases equally inter -esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer anti cancerous tumours, but he has not room here %o recosgl them. Mrs. Sarah A oung, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had ‘a goitrous tumour ou the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when sh» was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which lime she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as cun be found. If UST those be who have Pulmonary Consump -Tl lion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or i Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ; ceived from a most respectable inhabitant ot West j Chester County New York. Tarrvtown, Aug. 9. 1344. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex ! press the gratitude which I feel towards you for ; the interest you have taken to relieve me in mv 1 distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy i j cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few' months after, I commenced coughing and raising j t offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a j coughs I tried a few' boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. I then called in tbe | best physicians in the place, who attended me a | few months, but without success; 1 then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but I could not perceive, the least beneficial effect from it, on tbe contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, i commenced | raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, ! during which time I lost my appetite and fell away very fast; 1 was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the i city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter I and spring, and f gave up all hope of ever getting 1 any better, as* 1 again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up all hope of my recovering, and nought ’ every day was the last. About this lime 4 heard j of your BALSAM OF LD ERWORT being good 1 fur consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no w orse. My brother then pur_ | tdised a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N . Y., and commenced taking it. and by tbe time 1 had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. I would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor's Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to he the best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I will .convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE. Ft 3 HIS remarkable invention, which has received | ,1, the almost universal approbation of the Medi- j cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en- 1 tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial | agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic ! Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac., 1 | are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious ) powers of Galvanism applied without any of the 1 j objections which are inseparable from the general 1 i mode now in use. The*, strong doses, and at irr°g» [ I ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the ! Machines, has been-pronounced after a fair and irp i partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it w:'s to | remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion w as projected, which after unceasing toil'and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. ; The Galvanic Rings, used in connection w ith the i Magnetic- Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one. single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system—and it w as in these cases that other “ remedies ” having so often failed, a new 7 agent was greatly needed,, which it is confidently believed, has been fennel in the proper and judi ; cions application of Galvanism. I The Galvlhdc Kings have been used with entire I success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ; applying to the head, face or limbs ; Gout, Tic- Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous nr Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap poplexy, St if ness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum bago, Neuralgia, Nerrovs Tremors, Dizziness of (tie Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and | all Nervous Disorders. In ca-es of confirmed Djs j pepsia, which is simply a nervdis derangement of j toe digestive organs, they have been found equally I successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the • system must be witnessed tq be believed, and as a ; certain Preventive for the preceding complaints j they are equally recommended. The Kings are of i different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va [ rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the I most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea ble than othej^vLe. The Galvflnic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds, Garters, Necklaces, &c. In some oases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets. \c., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree of pow er that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to he permanently re lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist .arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with perfect convenience. The Gmvanfc Necklaces, are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of 1 Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fils, and 1 similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is Issued in connection with the Galvanic things, and all their modifications. This composition has j been pronounced by the French Chemists to be 1 one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod i' ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable pow er qf rendering lh p Ve/Tcs sensitive to Galvanic j action, by these means causing a circulation of the : influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra i pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same-effect or to impart a similar property tb the nervous system bv means of an outward local Application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. 'Lite combined inventions are in every way perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach of all, ami the discoverer only requests a fair trial, as « test‘of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Flas- | tors. These articles form another valuable application and llie m\ sterious influence of Galvanism. They are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of' Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those i complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional V\ eakness, as a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas ter, wili be found of great and permanent advantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob jections which are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. TN offering this valuable medicine to the people BL of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis eases incident to a Southern climate, 1 do not claim for it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dyspepsia, I cun confidently advise and recom mend its use, from my personal observation and use of the article in my own practice. This article is favorably received wherever it has been used. I am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troop. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, 3lr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. A-sbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William I). Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his , own cm. and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular state of the bow els. It is useful in billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who arc subject to costiveness, this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state * of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. 1 could append a long list of certificates, but for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi cine to sustain itself. The is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM, Eatonton, G n . Price Sl—For sale by A, G. WILLIS. Marc h 11 .... DP. xjrvyc; VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS. ! THE startling drawback on nearly ail Medicinal Agents has ever hern that in their process of pur gation and purification, thev have also Debilitated the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another: To obviate this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN". But their efforts rvere nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired of success when the labors nt science and research, were rewarded by a discov ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which Purify X. he Blood, and remove all corrupt and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and Tyivigorafiov. for they are at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. 'I he two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are WILD CHERRY A SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, w hile the latter, through its union w'ith various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Di ges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after tliey are taken, the patient is aw'are of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of wffiich the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
