Fowle Sir—Having been afflicted for more than thirty years with the asthma, at times so severely as to in- | expatiate me from attending to business, and hav- ! ing adopted many medicines without any but tern- | porary relief, I purchased about three years since, j of Mr. Edward Mason, your agent in this city, seve ral bottles of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, I from the effects of which I obtained more relief than from all the medicines I bad ever taken for that distressing disorder. I have by the repeated use of your valuable Balsam been more free of pressure for breath, and opppression on the lungs, than 1 had anticipated, and indeed conceive my self cured of this most disheartniag malady. There has been but a moderate derharid for flour to-day, though there is no change in prices. About i 2.000 barrels of dour were sold at 50 a§s 63£ for Genesee. We have again so report only a few transactions hi cotton. We quote to-d.iv 11 *n*e. NEW-ORLE ANd, S.-pt. 11 Colton.-*. Vrrived since the 3rd in»t,3836 bales. We left the Cotton market in a very quiet state on Friday Jast, hut the limited supply enabled hold- j ers to obtain very full rates in the few transactions i taking place. On Saturday a private express brought through iv meagre telegraphic despatch, announcing the ar rival at New York of the steamer Gaudalquiver, | with dates from Liverpool to the 15th ult.: but noth ing very definite was conveyed, in regard to the vtate of the Cotton market, and it was not until ; Wednesday that the full particulars were in poses- , sion of the public. On Thursday a telegraphic tummary of the Caledonia’s advices, from Liver- 1 pool to the 19th utt., came through by private ex press, and was made public yesterday. With re- j gard to our own market, it has exhibited very lit- | tie animation, there being but few buyers di-posed to come forward at present, and, indeed, hut a lim ited supply to operate upon, though the stock of new «• ratkur accumulating. The total sales of the week sum up about 1800 bales, nearly the whole of which is new crop taken mostly for the North, with come few parcels to finish freight ingageiuents for Liverpool. In prices no very material change has taken place, though within the last day or two the j tendency has been in favor of buyers, and yester day, particularly .purchases could be made at easier rates, but the few parties that had been in the •market seemed disposed to suspend operations un- | til in possession of the letters by the Caledonia, 1 -which are due this morning. We have arranged our quotations for I oth old and new crop Louisiana ; and Mississippi Cottons, to conform as nearly as |K>csible to the business of the week, and have ex cluded Tennessee and North Alabama, of which there are no lots now on hand. The receipts of •new crop this week have been 3578 bales, making a total of 5G53 -bales, against 1035 bales during the same period last year, and 22,578 bales the year previous. The accounts from the interior continue to speak positively of the appearance of the real cotton-eat ing caterpillars in many sections of Louisiana and Mississippi, but thus far they appear to have done .bat little injury; though it is apprehended when they become mere numerous by successive repro ductions they will still be the means of curtailing the crop to some considerable extent. The late ness of their appearance, however, as compared with last year,as.likely to prevent such wide spread : •destruction as they then accomplished, and the I weather is now of a favorable character for the ( tuuturing and gathering of the crop. f NEW ORLEANS CLASSIFICATION. CITIZENS of this beautiful and healthy State, allow me, a native Georgian, the pleasure to call your attention to one of the greatest and most useful Medicines ever discovered—one of a simple and harmless nature—one which has proved itself to be an infallible remedy for the FEVER AND AGUE, effecting a certain and speedy cure. The time mentioned is truly very siiort, and will be doubted by many, but I have certificates from the first Physicians and of gentlemen of the highest re spectability of Savannah, where I reside. It is known by all that a poison will soon circulate through and effect the whole human system, then why not a simple and one that is harmless? This Medicine is not a Northern Humbug. but a South ern Remedy altogether. It is made in the city of Savannah —it is recommended by citizens of Sa vannah, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Ac.; and to be candid, all nay Printing is Southern, executed by Mr. E. J. Purse, of Savannah; so you will at once see it is altogether a Southerner, and if it was my intention to humbug any c >mmunity, 1 would not choose gentlemen’s names that are welll known and in the same place where I reside. I submit the testimony of residents of this city, among whom are the first Physicians, and 1 presume you are acquainted with many of them. The Medi cine offered to the world, is a safe, certain and speedy cure for Fever and Ague, which it will do in th e4.ie.ry short space of Twelve Hints. As Flori da is a newly settled country, it is liable to a great deal of this troublesome disease, and it will he to the advantage of every family to keep a supply on hand. Citizens of Florida; it is not my intention to weary your patience with a string of nonsense or of advertisements, for I can assure you that lam pretty well used up in this part of the work; but 1 wish you to try this Medicine and satisfy your- . selves, and you will for the first time believe that a disease could be cured in Twelve Hours, and the only way to prove it is to try it. I really do not know why a Southern Medicine should not be as good as one that is manufactured at the North. My Medicine has effected a perfect cure where all others have failed. I admit there are many other remedies, but not one that can be come so popular, and so certain of curing this com plaint, as Humphreys’ Remedy for Fever and Ague. Only think for a moment. Twelve Hours to be a healthy man! It is strahge, very strange, that truth should need so much boasting at last; but such is this world. I will not tax you with any more ol this, but willingly I leave the Medicine to recom mend itself to Florida. And now. to close, I pledge my honor the Medicine does not contain any Mercury or any Mineral Preparation whatever/ it is a Vege table only. I am respectfully, yours, Ac. W. HUMPHREYS.du.. Druggist, Corner Bay and Dray ton-streets, Savannah. SOUTH CAROLINA. PLANTERS of this noble State, I ask you to give the above Medicine one and a fair trial, and you will find it to excel ail the numbugs of the North. It is now used, and with success, in you State. Certificates can be had by addressing either my self or Dr. P. M. Cohen, Charleston, or Mr. I'. J S. Farr. Grahamville, who have the Medicine for sale. All orders addressed to me will meet with prompt attention. The Medcin will be found at the stores of either of the folio wing gentlemen, w ho have the genuine only. ' W. HUMPHREY’S, Jr. AGENTS.—P.
