Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori- _ ginatiug from a depraved or Impure stale of the Blood or other fluids of the body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has not offered his preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid stud" -or until after we've years’ experience had n»au, .ested its great uperiority over every other article of the kind. — f uu Ihe now recommends it with confidence, fully believing I hat the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a cl tss of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. lie has prescribed it in almost even variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Broncliooele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)- He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases ot goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to completely remove the disease. Not a solitary ofTailurc. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing bronclvo ceie and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Lever and Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that t!u v can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainly; and further, that he has good reason for believing that tills prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it de troys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula-email ~t Scrofula—King's Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous cases of scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. G- rut. A number of cases of gout have been cured by this preparation. In one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely lor thirteen years as to entirely disable him from business, and for live months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he teas enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by bis affliction. Dro psioal S w jllings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. it imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pain-, and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchoccle, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine*.that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this meet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one . All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in deed it had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der tiie right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body anpear td to be a m iss of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumptiou. 'The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, hut steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning w ith a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestigu of disease was removed.—* Tiie tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exiila were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so hfad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, |fas effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He w ould also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, whereia-his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., bad a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, »s large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila tlelphia. was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven mouths, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can he found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name ia print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by ' WM. K. KITCHEN, sen 28 ly 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. BRUSHES. OYERY variety of Hair. MI ST tlyse be who have Pulmonary Consump tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest, after reading the following letter, just re i ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West ; Chester County Now- York. Tarkytovvn, Aug. 9, 1841. Deaf Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the year 1842 1 contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having I heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a j coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had j not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the. best physicians in the place, who attended me a i few months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three i bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, ; hut I could not perceive the least beneficial effect , from it, on the contrary I think it was a great iu ‘ jury to me. Shortly after using it, 1 commenced raising blood in large quantities; 1 was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away very last; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and 1 gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in my I breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up »*1 hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF LI VERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it cotHd make me no worse. My brother then pur clised a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N.Y., and - | ■ commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bottle full 1 could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. 1 still keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in ray breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months i have gained in weight six pounds and much in strength. 1 would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence lor diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I will convince him of its 1 virtues. Yonrs, respectfully, DE REVERE. [ GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid. CIAHIS remarkable invention, which has received JL the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, us a remedial j agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic j Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac., are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the • objections which are inseparable from the general \ mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg- ; ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the ! Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im- ; partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to ; remedy this radical defect, that this new applica- : tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has beOi brought, to its present state I o* perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer ail the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects arc more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The Galvtfnir Kings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid , are confidently recommended in j all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un- I health y state of the nervous or vital system, and those complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that 1 other “remedies” having so often failed, a new i agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has been found in the proper and jadi- I cions application of Galvanism. The Galvanic Kings have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, i applying to the head, face or limbs : Goaf, Tic- \ Doloreux, Toothache , Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nen'ous . or Hick Headache, Indigestion, Para!uses. Palsy. , I El illepsj. Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap- ; : poplejry. Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, I urn -1 ha go, Neuralgia, Nerrovs Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, Pains in the Chest aud Side, General Debil ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and , all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed tube believed, and as a certain Preventive for lire preceding complaints they are equally recommended. The Kings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the ’ most delicate female without the slightest incon- | venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea- ! ble tlian otherwise. Tlie Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, &c. In some cases of a very severe character and of : long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Kings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis -1 case and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets , See., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently rc ! lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with j perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are I used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or j affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of ‘ Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success j as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and 1 similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Kings, and all their modifications. Thu; composition has ! been pronounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic action, by these means causing a circulation of the 1 inliuence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra i pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system ! by means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. The combined inventions are in every way perfectly harmless : they are at prices within reach of all. and the discoverer Only requests a lair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent ■ benefit. 1 Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They j are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Kings and their modifications,, acting upon the j same principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom- I mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure jof Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous | complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, ; and are highly recommended for many of those j complaints to which females are especially liable, i As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys ■ tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas j ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. I In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair i ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These i articles will be found entirely free from those ob ! jections which are a constant source of complaint 1 with the ordinary Piasters in common use. (Lf’The great celebrity and success of these ar ticles have caused them to be counterfeited by un i principled persons. To provide against impositions, Dr. Christie has but one authorized agent in each city of the Union. The only Agency in Augusta, Geo., is at the Store of HAVILAND, RISLEY A CO., Druggists. All articles of the kind sold elsewhere, are worth less counterfeits. 43 Sept. 28 PRICES REDUCED TO SUIT THE TIMES. X FAMILY MEDICINES, CHOICE PERFUM ’ ERV and FANCY ARTICLES. [N offering this valuable medicine to the people of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim for it infallibility; neither do 1 say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise aud recom mend its use, from my personal observation and use of the article in my own practice. This article is favorably received wherever it has been used. I am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion. liver complaints, constipation and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil lions fevers, aud in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant women, who are subject to costivcncss, j this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. 1 could append a long list of certificates, but for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi- j cine to sustain itself. THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitated the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways 'been regarded as at best but a Nrressanf EHI; Patients resorting to them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another. To obviate i this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that J would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. j But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired of success when the labors ot science and research, were rewarded by a discov ery wliich fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum Is named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which Purify the Blood, and remove ail corrupt and vitiated humors, an d unhealth ij accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate the constitution during: the progress of ( their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities. Evacuation and Jnvigoratim. for they are at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. 1 he two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are YVILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills arc the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, hut also on the chyle, of wliich the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
