Patent fUeiudnea. valuable preparation combines all the 1 B medicinal virtues of those articles, which long experience has proved to possess the most sate 1 and efficient alterative and deobstruent properties, j or the cure of Scrofula, King's Evil, 11 kite Swell- \ lags, Ulcers, Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent ! Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections, Rheu matism, Gout, Scurvey, Neuralgia or Tic-Doulou reux, Cancer, Goitre or Broncnocele, (swelled Neck,) Enlargem -nts of the Hones, Joints, Glands , or Liga ments or of the Ovaries, Liver, Spleen, Kidneys, fyc. All the diseases of the Skin, such as Tetter. Ring worm, Biles, Pimples, Cat huncles, Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint, Nervous Diseases, Dropsical Swellings. Constitutional Disordet s and diseases ori ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the Blood or other fluids ol the body. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has n«->t offered his preparation to their notice without due reflec lioa, and close and rigid study, nor until alter vvelve years'’ experience had manifested its great uperiority over every other article of the kind, — ■'an I he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from j obstruction or enlargement of the glands or inopuri- , ty of the blood. Cancar and Cancerous Tumors. lie has used this preparation in upwards ol twen- | tv well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu- j mors, and in every case but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchooele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases ol goitre, and it has never fade Ain a single instance to : completely remove the disease. Not a solitary e of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho ccle and cancerous affections has convinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as fever aiul Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say ing that thev can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he has good reason for believing that this-prepara- j tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate S or of Ala —Bang’s Evil. Tins preparation has been used ia numerous 1 eases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell ings, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of entane- | ojs affections, and found it successful in curing salt i rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew 1 and jaundiced skin, &.c; Dysnsosia and Liver Conrolaint. It has been used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Tio-D onloureux. It lias been used iu several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheum itistn. This preparation has been prescribed in a great many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case in which it was used until the sy stem became affected by* the medicine, the disease was removed. GroUt. A number of cases of gout have been cured by j this preparation. In one of these cases, the man ; had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen years as to entirely’ disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been confined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was enabled to walk about the streets and so m after re turned to his business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. D o psical B w 2lli ugs. This medicine increases' the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone an 1 vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous affections. In fact, in every case where, the medicine ba> been taken for some time, ncr matter for what pur pose, the general health of the patient has always been improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astonishing ebses of skin diseases, can cer, broncnocele, and scrofula, have been cured by t his me lidne, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in tlus sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting rase cured by Jayne's Alterative. In tiie spring of 1331, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Ph ebe. wife of Peter St retell, of Salem .1. It was examined by many Phvsicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and be sides bore all the characteristic marks ot one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease nothin size aid painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, af.er a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1332, by' Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the p oprietor, ami two other medical gentlemen. The w icle aud entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant charac ter. in about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to get about again, Site remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in dc(* lit had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive h rof rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. Sue was of a very scrofulous habit, . eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumptiou. The experiment was now made with shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very 7 gradually, but steadily’ increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six mouths, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for abopt six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly’ ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has, subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. • ' , ' Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by* using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind heV ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old, and continued gradually to increase un til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as<smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN., sen 28 Iv 2 * Sole Agent for Georgia, ? BRUS&RS. 1 A VERY variety 7 of If air. MI ST those be who have Pulmonary Consump tion,, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest, after reading the following letter, just re ceived from! a most respectable inhabitant of West chester County New York. Takrytown, Aug. 9, ICI4. Dear Doctor —it is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me iu mv distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heuv\ cold, which finally -settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a coughs 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they 7 had not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended me a few 7 months, but without success; I then saw 7 an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, 1 commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell awav very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of the best physicians in the citv.) but he could dome no-good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pain in mv breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends •now gave up ail hope of my recovering, and thought every day was the last. About this time 1 heard of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but 1 was like many 7 others, anil was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; J however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur chscd a bottle of it at 375 Bowery', N. Y., aud - commenced taking it, and bythe time 1 had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, ahd in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on tgking it and find great benefit from it—the pain in mv breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have srained in weight six pounds and much in strength. 1 would therefore, advise all who - have any affec tioo of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be the best remedy* in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any 7 one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let Kim ctdl on me, and I will convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE- REVERE.. GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid. riAMIS remarkable invention, which has received ■ the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises-an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, &c., are-entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious j towers of Galvanism •■applied without any' of the Objections which are inseparable from the general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals,'in which Galvanism is applied by the Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state of perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more saje and certain in accomplishing the desired effect. The (Tu/vanic Kings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we are subject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system— and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is Confidently believed, has been found in the proper and judi cious application of Galvanism. The (ralranic Kings have been used with entire success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, i applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout. Tic ! Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous I or Rick Headache, Indigesliori, Paralyses, Palsy. Epilepsy, Fils, Cramp. Palpitation of the Heart, Ap poplexij, Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, 1 u'ii hatrn. Neuralgia, T\e/Tors Tremors, Dizziness of the Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys pepsia, which is simply' a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain Preventive for the preceding complaints they are equally recommended. The Kings are of different prices, be ing made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by' the most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea ! hie than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands, Garters, Necklaces, Ac. In some eases of a very severe character and of | long standing the power as applied by the Galranu Kings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, fyc., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree 1 of power that is required can readily be obtained. and no complaint which the mysterious agent of , Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re -1 lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, artiis, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally; also in cases of Nirvous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic action, by these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the sdme effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous system by means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its result. The combined inventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial. I as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Ciiristie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. TheseLarticles form another vein able application 1 and the mysterious influence Os Galvanism. Thev ar c too important adjuncts to the genuine Gdlrrtnic Kings and their modifications, acting upon .the, | same principle, but having this advantage of more i local application. They are confidently recom | mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure !of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous j complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. 1 In Spi i rial (Complaints, their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those | complaints to which females are especially liable. I As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys ; tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; I as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a , Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the j Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas -1 ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation with the important addition of tlie Galvanic influence, which is neither impair j ed or exhausted, while the action continues. IN offering this valuable medicine to the people of Georgia, for tfce relief and cure of many dis eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim for it infallibility; neither do ] say it will cure all diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom mend its use, from my personal observation and use j of the article in my own practice. This article is I favorably received wherever it has been used, i am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup. Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffec of Cobb. Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might be added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valuable medicines that can be used in imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular slate of the bowels. It is useful in ! billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To i pregnant, women, who are subject to costiveness, this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. 1 could append a long list of certificates, but for- j bear, prefeting to rely on the virtues of the medi cine to sustain itself. Tlie medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM. E atonton. Ga. Price sl-—For sale by A. G. WILLIS. March 11 DR. LE ROY’S VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS. THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, .they have also Debilitated the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary Evil; Patients, resorting to them for the, relief of one disease at the expense of another. To obviate [ this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that J would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired of success when the labors ot science and research, were rewarded by a discov ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is named Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. Which Purify the Blood, and remove ail corrupt and vitiated humors, and unheaiih if accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact,, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and Jnrignrafinn. for tlicv are at tlie same time a STRENGTHEN ING PURGA- I TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. r I he two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA, j •So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they sn perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the tlie Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at- j tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. ' D. . Le Rev’s Pills are the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
