THIS valuable preparation Vombifics \ll the medicinal'virtUhs ot‘ those aftiches/Vhlch long experience has proved to possess the most Sate and efficient alterative and deobstfuent properties, or the cure of Scrofula, Kind’s Evil, White Spell ings, Ulcers, Scrofulous Cancerous arfd JndofeAt '■Tumours ; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections. Rheu matism, Gout, Scurvey, Neuralgia or Tic- Doulou reux, Cancer, Goitre or Bronchocele, (swelled Neck,) Enlargements of the Bones, Joints, Glands, or Liga ments or of the Ovaries, Liver, Spleen, Kidneys, lyc. The proprietor of this Alterative would most re spectfully assure the public that he has not offered this preparation to their notice without due reflec tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after welve years’ experience had manifested its great g uperiority over every other article of the kind, — an 1 he now recommends it with confidence, fully believing that the above combination of medicines will effectually eradicate from the system a class of diseases some of which have heretofore been con sidered incurable. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of diseases and with unparalleled success, especially in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri ty of the blood. Cancer and Cancerous Tumors. He has used this preparation in upwards of twen ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu mors, and in every ease but one with perfect and entire success. Bronchocele or G-oitre, (Swelled Neck.) He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to : completely remove the disease. Not a solitary case of failure. All were cured. The success he has met with in curing broncho- i cele and cancerous affections has coirrinced him that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be removed with as much certainty as Fever and A<rue. He does not wish to be understood as sav in? that they can be cured as soon as Fever and Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that he~ has good reason for believing that this prepara tion will not only cure these diseases when formed, but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle lurking in the system, from which that peculiar class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate Scrofula —King’s Evil. This preparation has been used in numerous | eases of scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell- j tngs, and always with the most decided success. Skin Diseases. He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane- j mis affections, and found it successful in curing salt j rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew and jaundiced skin, Ac. Dyspepsia and Inver Complaint. Ft has befen used in numerous cases of liver com plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. Tic-D oulouretix. It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia, and in every case it was successful. Rheumatism. This preparation has been prescribed in a great rfiany cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every case in which it was used until the system became ■affected by the medicine, the disease was removed. Gout. A number of cases of gout have been cured by •this preparation:. Is one of these cases, the man had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen .Vears as to entirely disable him from business, and for five months immediately previous to his taking the Alterative he had been c infined to his room; but before he had finished the third bottle, he was «nkbied to walk about the streets and soon afrer re turned to bis business, from which he had so long been excluded by his affliction. Dropsical Swallings. This medicine increases the powers of digestion excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts tone and vitality to the whole system, removing sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering pains and nervous Section*. In fact, in every case where the medicine has been taken for some time, no matter for what pur {»iVse, the general health of the patient has always >Cen improved by it. In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some of the most astdnisking cases of skin diseases, can cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but want of room in this sheet precludes their publica tion at this time. Cancer. An interesting cast cured by Jayne’s Alterative. In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phiebe, wife of Peter Mtretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, and besides bore all the characteristic marks of one. All probable means of removing it were used without the slightest benefit. It continued to in crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The whole and entire right breast was removed, and af ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by all present a cancer of the most malignant cliarac ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in spirit, to gel about again. She remained feeble, and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in dee Jit had been for several years before. In the spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap pearance on the right side, immediately over the part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi ly increased for several months, and became so painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap peared in the left breast. No operation could now arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid ered hopeless. Him was of a very scrofulous habit, eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con bumption. The experiment was now made with slits Alterative. It was at first given in small doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradually, but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it, which was about six months, and the skin over and around the tumour was wet night and morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash. The tumour continued increasing in size for about six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas ing until every vestige of disease was removed.— The tumour in her left breast, and those in her right exiila were also dispersed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and her general health, which had been so bad for four teen vears as to make life a burthen, was effectu ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is in possession of the diseased breast, and those who choose may examine it. He would also say that he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here to record them. Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, as large as the half of an orange, which was cured by using this Alterative for about four months. Miss R—— S , South Fourth-street, Phila delpliia, was also cured of an enlargement of the throat, which filled the entire space between the chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi, ty. It commenced growing when she was but five years old. and continued gradually to increase un, til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced using this Alterative, which she took for seven months, which entirely reduced the enlargement; and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give her name in print, but will refer persons to her. For sale by WM. K. KITCHEN, sep 2£| Jy 2 Sole Agent for Georgia. BRUSHES. EVERY variety of Hair, Tooth, Hat. MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump- | tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or j Chest, after reading the following letter, just re- ! ; ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of W est . Chester County New York. Tarhytown, Aug. 9, 1844. Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for the interest you have taken to relieve me' in my distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few months after, I commenced coughing and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Havin'*- heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a : coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the best physicians in the place, who attended nae a few months, but without success; I then saw an ad vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three 1 bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets, but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and confined to the house for three months, during which time I lost my appetite and fell away very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis ! of New York, (one of the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no good. 1 again became worse, and was confined to the house all last winter j and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my cough was very severe, together with a pajn in my ! breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends ! now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought ! every day was the last. A bout this time I heard of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good for consumption, but I was like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it could make me no worse. My brother then pur chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y r ., and - commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking It and find great benefit from it—the : pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two months I have gained in weight six pounds and much In strength. 1 would therefore, advise all who have any affec tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement relative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and I will convince him of its virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE. GALVANIC RINGS AND Magnetic Fluid. rpHIS remarkable invention, which has received X the almost universal approbation of the Medi cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, 6cc., arc entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any of the objections which are inseparable from the general mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the j Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy this radical defect, that this new applica tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance has been brought to its present state ot pertection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in many other respects are more safe and certain in i accomplishing the desired effect, i The Galvanic Kings, used in connection with the Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in 1 all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un j healthy state of the nervous or vital system, and those ! complaints are among the most painful and univer sal to which we ale subject. They arise, without exception, to one single cause—a derangement of the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that other “remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently ; believed, has been found in the proper and judl j cious application of Galvanisffi. The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire success ift all cases ol Rheumatism, acute nr chronic, | applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic | Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nerrous or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap | pojtlexy, Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum j bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the , Head, Pains in the Chf'st and Side, General Debil j ity, Deficiency of Nen'ous and Physical Energy, and all JSen ous Disorders. In cases of Confirmed Dys pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of the digestive organs, they have been found equally successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the j system must be Witnessed to be belieVed. and as a ( certain Preventive for the preceding complaints they are equally recommended. The Rings are of different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without the slightest incon venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea ble than otherwise. The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds, Gaiters, Necklaces, Ac. In some cases of a very severe character and of long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings is not sufficient to arrest ihe progress of dis ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets. entirely remedies this objection ; any degree of power that is required can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are ' used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or affections of the throat generally; also in cases of i Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success j as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and ; similar complaints. CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID. Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and all their modifications. This composition has been pronounced by the French Chemists to be one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable power of rendering the JServes sensitive to Galvanic action, bv these means causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra pid and permanent relief. No other composition in chemistry is known to produce the same effect ot to impart a similar property to the nervous system bv means of an outward local application. The Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in it? result. The combined inventions are in every wa; perfectly harmless; they are at prices within reacli of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial as a test of their surprising efficacy and permanent benefit. Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas ters. These articles form another valuable application and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. Thev are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic Rings and their modifications, acting upon the -ame principle, but having this advantage of more local application. They are confidently recom mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases ol 1 Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in ; the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided character, and they have often been used with complete success. They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended for many of those complaints to which females are especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys tem when debilitated by disease or other causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Pias ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. : In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the I best tonic preparation with the important addition of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These articles will be found entirely free from those ob jections w hich are a constant source of complaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. mUThe great celebrity and success of these ar ticles have caused them to be counterfeited by un principled persons. IN offering this valuable medicine to ihe people of Georgia, for the relief and cure of man} - dis- i eases incident to a Southern climate. I do not claim for it infallibility ; neither do 1 say it will cur* all diseases. But in Chfrmitj LDer Affections and Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom mend its use, from my personal observation and use of the article in my own practice. This article is favorably received wherever it has been used, I am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup, Mr. John Warren of Columbus, 31 r. McKftfiee of Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. W illiam I). Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La grange; to which a great number of names might he added, who bear their testimony to its value.— Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his own case, and has prescribed it to many others, I gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest ! and most valuable medicines that can be nsetf rn | imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation ' and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil lious fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To i pregnant women,-who are subject to costiveness, ! this medicine is w ell suited. In regulating the state of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is particularly useful. I could append a long list of certificates, but for bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi- ; cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific. JOEL BRANHAM, E itonton. Ga. Price sl—For sale by A. G. WILLIS. March 11 VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL. PILLS. THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal Agents has ever been that in their process of pur gation and purification, they have also Debilitated tlie System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of one disease at the expense of another. To obviate this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that would at the same time PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN. But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they had almost despaired of success when the labors ol science and research, w r ere rewarded by a discov ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy has ever achieved. This important desideratum is named Dr. I e Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills. W Inch Purify the liloixl, and remove all corrupt and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from the body in a manner never before rivalled, and which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and invigorate the constitution during the progress of their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable qualities, Evacuation and Invisroration, for they arc at the same time a STRENGTHEN ING PURGA TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC. 7he two paincipal ingredients in Dr, Le Roy’s Pills are WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA. So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef fect of the other, the former strengthening, while the latter, through its union with various vegetable ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges tive Functions, and hence their operations are at tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack the very root of Diseases, and their action is so prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken, the patient is aware of their good effects. They not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle, of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a family medicine they have no rival.
