Cross Roads six miles below Watkiilsville, in Clark
county This determination has not been induced
by u want id patronage to the Wesleyan Mansion ;
fin, in that respect, it has been sustained beyond
the expectations ol its proprietor : but by a deliber
ate conviction, tliai in Farmers’ Academy, tinder
Us present prudent arrangements, the subscriber
will be able to do a larger amount of good, with
more pleasure and profit to Icmself, than ho has
been able to do, in Monroe. Jhe new institution
will consist ol two branches in separata houses, one
fir males, and the other for females. A competent
female teacher will be employed, to conduct the
female branch, under the direction of the principal
teacher ; but the advanced classes in that branch
will make their recitations to the principal. The
tw o Academies ore located at a short distance from
each other, and the teacher’s dwelling centrally be
tween them: and it is believed that such measures
have been adopted as will secure the advantages,
without the disadvantages, of a mixed school. All
the principal vices, and fashionable extravagancies
of town and village schools, are effectually exclud
ed from this establishment. The Academy is fur
nished with an extensive Chemical, Philosophical
and Astronomical apparatus, together w.lh a num
ber of large and elegant maps, and other facilities
lor the promotion of education, in view of the lo
tidily of Farmers Academy situated ns it is in one
of the most pleasant and healthful sections of the up
country, together with its other advantages, the sub
scriber does not hesitate to promise to pupils, a lar
ger amount of benefit than he has been able hereto
fore to give litem. 1C very precaution that a prudent
forethought has suggested, has been taken, to throw
around the morals of pupils the strongest and most
effectual safeguards. All the branches (both solid
and ornamental) of a liberal and extensive educa
tion, will bo taught in ibis institution, and at mode
rale prices. Hoarding may be had at the Academy
and w ithin the distance of olio mile from it, in the
must respectable families, for eight dollars, or less,
per month.

a good b'acksmilh and shoe maker. Also, bis wife
( iiaiutv, a bright mulatto, between 35 and 40
years of ago ; she has high check bones, long chin,
and long sharp nosn, rather lull, and her (ront
teeth in the upper jaw open. Also, her daughter
Betsey, sometimes called Elizabeth, a bright mu
latto, she might also pass lor while, about 14 years
old, well set, rattier low, high check bones, large
wide nose, long anil curly hair, and inclines to he
fleshy. Also, the fourth, Maria, a mulatto also,
about 28 years old, freckled, about the common
height, her teeth smartly decayed, speaks quick
when addressed without hesitation, her hair long
and straight. Those Negroes have a considerable
variety of clothing, ami about as fins and neat as
most of the whites; they started with some very
neat bed-clothing. They carried with them a bay
horse of common size, and lias a knot under one ot
his eyes, and one while foot behind. Jacob has sev
eral hundred dollars with him. There is no doubt
they are aiming for n free State, and I (ml some white
man is supposed to be with them. It may ho that
tho women are dressed in men’s doilies It is sup
posed they have a small wagon with them. Two
hundred dollars reward will he given to any one
who will deliver the above named negroes, or fifty
dollars (or each nr either of them, or One hundred
dollars if lodged in jail, so that I got them. I will
give fifty dollars for the apprehension of the white
man who esnvoyed them off.
