I import amounts to 30,31.3 lings.
I March 1.— Colton— The sales ol'Cotlon lor the
I four lust days, including Saturday ihe 21th, and
I Monday, Tuesday, ni d Wednesday the 28th, have
I amounted to 12000 bales. No changes has occur
■ red in prices, but the market is heavy, and the Ipii-
I deney is downwards. The sales of yesterday (IVed-
Isday) were 8000 bales, being double the quanti- ,
sold on the day previous. The trade have pnr- i
iased rather freely, and prices arc a little more ;
sady.
NEW VORK MARKET APRIL 2
Cotton— Holders during the past week, being •
ixlnus to realize, have submitted to n decline of ;
11 ir. on marly all descriptions. Transactions ;
the past week have reached 3500 bales, viz.

jtno consumption; 600 Florida at 7f a 10c; and
i 0 Tennessee and Mississippi at 7J a 10c. bales
: ordinary and middling qualities have been made
a reduction ol 5c from our extreme rales at the
use of last w eek.
NEW ORLEANS MARKET, APRIL I.
Cotton —Since our last review of the market (he
lies amount to 10,000 hales of all kinds and at very
regular prices, a decline of let per lb. has been
ibmilted to from the high sales of last week, al
lough we do not alter our quolati ms, the stock on
lie, in first hands being so very small.
Up to Tuesday last very little was done. On that
ay a sale of 2600 bales ol Mississippi and Louisiana
as made to a Hank agent at 101 c. round, ol l.ivcr
;>ol middling, which opened the way liir smaller i
ansaciions; and a run on Tennessee and North
labama at from 0 a Diets, extremes, for the w ant
f Mississippi find Louisiana.
There is a larger quantity of Cotton on hand for
ilpment to Europe, belonging to the Mississippi
links, an Soon as vessels • rrive to receive it, which
meet no better late than a portion of theirs sold
Liverpool on the 23d February, (reported at 7d.
>r lb. for fair,) will make a largo loss at our now
„ dug freights.
B-jT We quote Mississippi and Louisiana at 7 a 131 c.
Ii r 10. N. Alabama and Tennessee 6 a OS, fair 81.
The exports arc 422,230 bales against 379,022 to
io tame period last season, making an excess of
2,314 bales—they stand thus ;
BALES,
Tvscess To British Ports, 79,073
L'Vurt to French Ports, 30,6 tO
North of Europe, 457
Other Foreign Ports 4,463 36,459
xccss to Foreign Ports, 43,614
hort coastwise, 1,500
43,314
To this excess we should add what lias he.cn ship
id at Mississippi without clearing at this port,
hie.li prolralily amount to about from 12 to 16,0(111
ales A very small proportion of Tennessee and
HMlNort.!' Alabama has as .vet been received.
