We have the satisfaction to remark that our bn i
ness prospects are still better than last week’s; tin
amount of Cotton sold shows a gradual increase or
our former report, of nearly 700 hags; the lowei
qualities arc however in very little request, am
buyers have become rather fastidious, and selecl only
line staples at our highest quotations. The sales «1
Cplamis were 2(170 hags, at ,‘M all cents per lb. In
Tong Cottons, nothing doing.
Rai.timore, October 30.
No change has taken place in the pricesof Howard
street Hour since our las( weekly report. I o-day
w« quote the wagon price uniform at >7,112.'.. and
sales from stores have been made at $/,8/]. B>nie
dealers ask $B, for limited lot).
A sale of City Mills Hour 10-day $7,77, full, and
Hus price may be considered a lair quotation.

We have had a fair demand fur Colton throughout
the week, the trade taking their usual daily supplier
which they arc enabled to do without producing any
favorable impression on prices, holders of American
meeting the demand fairly, but without pressure
and the only change that can he nulieeii, is in tin
common and middle qualities, which are abundant
and have been sold in partial instances, at ~il reduc
tion from last week’s quotations. In Brazil then
is no change to notice, liahias and Marauhatiis an
in limited demand and dillleiilt of sale. I’ernano
are in increased demand and more readily saleahh
at previous rates. Surats are in fair deniaud, hull
tin' the trade and for export, hut are very freely
tillered, and the buyer has rather the advantage,—
2100 American and 1000 Surats have been taken
for export.

The transactions in our Cotton market are grown:,
more important than they have been ol late, and ,
decline of ii per lb. is, 1 tear, but a lorehoding ol
still further reduction in price. The continued equal
ity of the import and the sales, the near approach o
the season when the new crop may he expected, the
great depression which prevails In the cotton maim
factoring district, have at length determined thegre.i
holders to proceed with their sales at a more rapi.
rate than they have been doing for some time hack
During the week Humphries and Diddle have ill:
posed of 20011 hales, and the other important house
Jrave been uttering frooly, and during the ensiiin
month, it is expected that Humphries and liiddl
will tiring cotton into the market in still large
quantities. The stock of kmcrii'.oi cotton in 111
market is now. you will perceive. 395,MU)hales Sou
ricim, against 157,750, so that supposing the cor
sumption of the next year to exceed the presei
by 50,000, u deficiency of even 100,000 hales in th
