Academies.
riMIE Trustees of the above institution! take this
JL method of informing the public that they are
now both in a highly flourishing condition, under
the care of experienced and able teachers. The male
department has about fifty students, and is under
tho direction of Mr Augustus Alden, whoso ac
knowledged abilities as an instructor of youth, ad
ded to many years experience in his profession emi
nently entitle him to the patronage of the public.
The Female department has upwatds of sixty pu
pils, and is under the cere of Miss A. P. Hamilton,
a lady of superior literary attainments, whose sys
tem of discipline and mode of instruction have been
highly approved, and have secured for her a charac
ter as an instructress, perhaps unrivalled in this sec
tion of country The Trustees have engaged the
services of Miss M. A. Miller, as an assistant, who
is a lady well qualified to fur the discharge of her
duties. 1
In the department of Music, they have the servi- <
ces of Miss E. A. Hewett, who was a successful 1
and highly approved teacher of the science of mu
sic in the Sparta Female Seminary the last year.
In anticipation of numerous acquisitions to both
departments, by the commencement of another
quarter, they are happy to stats that they have the
promise of the Rev. Francis Bowman to hear reci- I
rations of some classes in either department as oc- <
eusion may require.
• They expect also in a short tints to engage a com
petent teacher of tha French language.
