with the Rheumatism for the last ten years. One bottie

Mr. Editor :—It is really surprising the people will suf
fer pain, and especially terrible complaints, Rheumatism,
and Neuralgia, when “Professor Haskell’s Electric Oil,”
cau be procured. I would not be without a bottle of
this unrivaled remedy in my family on any condition.—
I have been raised froma cripple by the attacks i paral
ysis and rheumatism to the lull use of my limbs, and have
known it tried effectually in several other cases besides
myself. It removes all pain from tlic body, head aud
limbs almost instantly, and I desire thus to inform the
suffering that they may avail themselves of its advantages.

Institution, as Chief Physician, and a twelve years
course of steady devotion to the Cure of PULMONARY
(1JNSUMFTION and its kindred diseases, together with
ay unrivalled opportunities and advantage of pathologi
cal research—aided not a little by a perfect system of
Medical Inhalation, has enabled mu to arrive at a decis
ive, direct, aud successful course of treatment for the
positive and radical cure of all diseases of the Throat,
Lungs and Air-Passages. By Inhalation, the vapor and
curative properties of Medicines arc directly addressed to
the diseased organs aud the integument. 1 do not advise
llie use of Medical Inhalation of any kind, to the exclu
sion of general treatment; and although I consider it a
useful adjuvant in the proper management of those fear
ful and often fatal diseases, yet 1 deem it very necessary
that each jiatient should have the benefit of both general
and local treatment. The success of my treatment in
the above diseases, and the high character of the Insti
tution over which I have so long had the honor to pre
side, are too well known to need any eulogy or comment
from me. At the solicitation of many private and pro
fessional friends, through whose philanlropic aid the
above charity lias been long and liberally supported, and
alter due consideration, 1 have concluded to make such
arrangements as will bring the benefits of my experience
and treatment within the reach of all, and nut confine
myself, as heretofore, to those only who entered the In
firmary, or who were able to visit me at my elfice.—
Hoping therefore that the arrangement will give entire
satisfaction, both to my professional brethren and the
public, 1 would respectfully announce in conclusion, that
can now be consulted personally or by letter, on all
diseases as above and that the medicine, the same as
used in tho Institution, prepared to suit each individual
case, Inhaling Vapors, Medical Inhalers, ftc., will be for
warded by express to any part of the United States or
the Canadas.
Terms.—My terms of treatment by letter are as fol
lows: $12 per mouth for each patient, which will include
medicine sulllcicnt for one month’s use; also, Inhaling
Vapor, and an Inhaling Apparatus. Payment us follows:
$6 to be paid to Express Agent on receipt ol" the box of
Medicine, and tho balance $6 at the expiration of tlic
month, if tlic patient be cured or is entirely satisfied
with the treatment. Patients, by giving a full history of
‘heir case, and their symptoms in lull, can be treated as
well by letter as by personal examination. Patients
availing themselves of Dr. Jarrett's treatment may rely
upon immediate and permanent relief, as he seldom has
to treat a case over thirty days. Letters for advice
uromptly answered. For further particulars address

XSooeof the best Purgative and Liver Medicines now
_L before the public, that acts as a Cathartic, easier,
mlMer and more effectual than any other medicine known
U is ootoniy a Cathartic, but a Liver remedy, acting first
on the Liver to eject Us morbid matter, then on the stom
ach and bowels to carry off that matter, thus accomplish
ing two purposes effectually, without any of the painful
feelings experienced in the operations of most Cathartics.
It strengthens the system at the same time that it purges
it; aud when taken daily in moderate doees, will strength
en and build it np with unusual rapidity.
The Liver is one of tne principal regulators of the hu
man body ; and when it performs its functions well, tho.
powers of the system are fully developed. The stomach
is almost entirely dependant ou the healthy action ol the
Liver for tile proper ; erf u nianco of its functions; when
the stomach is at fault, tne bowels are at fault, and the
whole sy tern suffers in consequence of one organ—the
liver—having ceased to do his duty. For the diseases
of that organ, one of the proprietors has made it his study
in a practice of more than 29 years, to find some remedy
wherewith to counteract the many derangements to
which it is liable.
To prove that this remedy is at last found, any person
troubled with Liner Complaint, iu any of its forms, has
but to try a bottle and conviction is certain.
These Gums remove ail morbid or bad matter from the
system, supplying in their place a healthy flow of biie,
invigorating the stomach, causing food to digest well,
uprifying the blood, giving tone and health to the whole
machinery, removing the cause of the disease—effecting
radical cure.
RiUous attacks are cured, and, what is better, prevent
ed by tile LIVER INVIGURATOR.
One dose after eating is sufficient to relieve the stomach
and prevent the food from rising and souring.
Only one dose taken before retiring, prevents Night-
Only one doso taken at night, loosen^ the bowels and

One dose taken alter each meal will cure Dyspepsia.
One dose or two"teaspoonfuls will always relieve Sick
Headache.
One bottle taken for femalo obstruction removes the"
cause of the disease, and makes a perfect cure.
Only one dose immediately relieves Cholic, while one
dose often repeated is a sure cure for Cholera Moriius
and a preventative of Cholera.
Only one bottie is needed to throw out of the system
the ellects of Medicine after a long sickness.
One bottle taken for Jaundice removes all sallowness
or unnatural color from the skin.
One dose taken a short time before eating gives vigor
to the appetite, aud makes food digest well.
One dose often repeated cures Diarrhoea in its worst
forms, while Summer aud bowel complaints yield aim os
to the first dose.
One or two doees cures attacks caused by Worms in
Children ; there is no surer, safer, or speedier remedy
in the world, as it never fails.
A few bottles cures Dropsy, by exciting tho absorb

We take pleasure in recommending this medicine as
a preventative for Fever and Ague, Chills and Fevers,
and all Eevers of a Bilious Type. It operates with cer
tainty, and thousands are willing to testify to its on
derful virtues,

THE LIVER INVIGORATOR
is a scientific medical discovery, and is daily working
cures, almost too great to believe. It cures as if by niag-
ig, even the first dose giving benefit, and seldom more thau
one bottle is required to cure any kind of Liver com

Headache, all of which are the result of a DISEASED

CANNEL COAL OIL.
FOR LVSBR1CAT1NU MACHINERY.
T HE UNION COAL AND OIL COMPANY of Maysvillo,
Kentucky, have made the undersigned Agents for the
sale of their Oils iu this city and region of country. Oils
of a similiar quality to these, have for a long time been
highly esteemed iu Europe for their lubricating qualities,
and wherever used in this country, the Oils made by
this Company, have been pronounced by the many par
ties using them to be fully equal to the best Sperm, at a
price greatly reduced. The Oils made by this Company,
difi’er materially from other Cannel Coal Oils sold in tiiis
country. Every barrel of Oil sold by this Comiiany is
warranted to answer the purposes for which it is intended.
The Oil is pronounced by competent judges to be the
cheapest and best that con be obtained for Railroads,
Cotton-Mills and all other fine machinery as tho following
certificates, from individuals now using it, who are ex
tensively known here and elsewhere, will prove. For
sale in large quantities at the wholesale prices, at which
it is furnished at the Factory, with insurance, freight aud
exchango added. CLARKE ft LEWIS, Agents,
Atlanta, Ga.
Atlanta, Feb. 18lh, 1858.
This will certify, that we are now using the Cannel Coal
Oil, manufactured by the Union Coal and OilCompiuiy,
on the Atlanta ft West Point Railroad, and we have found
the Oil a very fine Lubricator, much superior to the sperm
Oil we liavo been using which costs us in New York, $1.40
per gallon. The Oil being free from gum, it lias a thin
appearance, but its lubricating qualities, moke it a better
Oil than wo have been able to obtain and we have no
doubt but that it will lie generally used for Railroad pur
poses, and other fine muchinery. W. ItUSHTON,
Master Machinist, Georgia Railroad i-liop.

Master Mactinist’k Office M. ft C. R. R. >
Memphis, January 9,1858. j
This will certify that I am using the PAKAFE'IXG CAN
NEL COAL OIL, manufactured by the Coal and Oil Com
pany of Maysvillo Ky., in onr Machine shops and on the
locomotives on the Memphis and Charleston Railroad, and
having given it the severest tests, in order to prove its
qualities as a lubricating oil. I have no hesitation iu
recommendingit as a superior Oil for Railroad purposes,
both in regard to economy and as apcrfectLubricator.
I believe it to be the best oil I have used, and that one
gallon will go as far as two gallons of lard Oil. The ma
chinery is now running in tho shops with twenty per
cent. Ies3 power than ’ is required for ordinary oil. The
fluidity of the oil arises, I am convinced, from the total
absence of gum, and does not affect its lubricating prop
erties, but ouly requires that the orifices in the oil cups
and feeders should be reduced iu order to U3e the oil
economically. WM. R. NICHOLS,
Master Machinist.
The above named Wm. Nichols, is Master Machinist on
the Western division of the Memphis aud Charleston Rail
road. From his knowledge of lubricating oils, and his
long experience in their use, he is abundantly able to
judge in the opiDion expressed above. B. AYRES,
Superintendent Transportation, M. D.
W. R. Nichols is the Master Mechanic in our shops at
tiiis place, and I have every confidence in bis opinion as
a man well qualified to fill the position he occupies. His
opinion iu relation to the Lubricating Oil referred to in
tho foregoing certificate, is entitled to high consideration.
