FORT CAINES ACADEMY
Purser Hatch informs us that the affairs
of Central America are more disturbed than
heretofore. Capt. Walker having received
reinforcement at Realejo, landed at Pietro,
14 miles north of San Juan del Sur, on the
27th nit., with 375 men, and is reported to
have taken Kiras, and then entered San
Juan del Sur, carrying off the arms and

The Indians are reported to have killed
six white men at Klamatz reservation, and
six others in Ilinois valley.
The mines are yielding abundant gold in
all parts of California, the weather having
been very favorable for both begining and
washing. The gold production of 1855
bids fair to equal if not exceed that of any
previous year.
The mint is coiniug at the rate of $100,-
000 per day.
San Francisco, June 16.—The jobbing
trade has been quite active, and there has
been considerable transactions from first
hands. Sugars, Gunny bags and a few oth
er articles have slightly improved, but most
others have declined.

The Western Indians.
The Salt Lake Indians are very quiet.
Col. Granger has arrived from Fort Ben-
tou, and reports the Indians quiet on that
route.
New Orleans, July 9.—The steamer Mag
nolia Banner, together with her cargo of
1,000 bales of cotton, has been burnt below
Baton Rouge. Eight of her passengers
lost their lives.
There were 160 deaths in this city last
week, including 32 from yellow fever and
19 from cholera.
Charleston, July 9.—The cotton-bill of
lading forger, J. C. Nichols, alias J. N.
Cratou, alias J. C. Clark, has been arrested
at Brussels, and is now in prison at that
place.

Dissolution.
T HE Copartnership heretofore, existing in the

ham A Bleakley has become dissolved by the death
of Col. Benajah Dunham, and by the subsequent
expiration of the term for which the said partner
ship was extended by his executors under his last
will and Testament.

the native red njan, annually for 40 years before
the white man got among them, they regarded it
as a valuable gift by the great Spirit and revered

be In point of pecuniary matters in this seotion of
