Saussy to Lead
Carver Employees
Association
Othia Saussy
has been named
President of the
Carver State Bank
Employees
Association.
Saussy, who
joined the Carver
staff in 2001, is
one of the experi
enced bankers
who is part of the
staff at the bank's
new Branch on the
corner of I
Skidaway Road Othia Saussy
and Eisenhower Drive. Saussy is a senior teller at the branch
where she is joined by Financial Services Specialists Mattie
Bing and Lee Perry, and Tellers Joyce Coleman and Timitra
Preston. Vice President Claudia Clarke is the Branch Manager.
Prior to joining the staff at Carver, Saussy was an assistant
manager at a retail business in Savannah.
The Carver State Bank Employees Association was
organized in the late 1970s to give the bank's employees an
entity through which they can enjoy group activities, partici
pate in community organizations, celebrate their individual
achievements, and support local charities.

Christmas in July
The Department of Labor
Employer Committee and Santa
Claus presented a large donation
to Greenbriar Children's Center
on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at
8:30am. The exciting and highly
anticipated event, "Christmas in
July," brings lots of laughter and
cheer to the children who are vic
tims of abuse, neglect and home
lessness. Greenbriar received
over $20,000 in combined dona
tions of in-kind items, financial
contributions and voluntary man
power. After the presentation,
Santa packed his bag and headed
over to visit the children where he
will have toys and gifts for every
one.
The children who partici
pated in this event were from
Greenbriar’s W.W. Law Learning
Santa brings gifts in July. Center.
Some of the corporations
that have contributed to "Christmas in July" are as follows: Fungi Oil, Kelly
Services, Save-A-Lot, Kroger, Express Personnel, Farmers Furniture, Georgia
Pacific Pulp Mill-Rincon, Coastal Center for Developmental Services, Hunter
MacLean, Home Depot - Abercom Store, Standard Textile, IKEA, Gamma
Sigma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Westin Savannah,
and Overcoming By Faith Church. In addition, many individuals and organi
zations from the Savannah community have generously donated items for

fundraising campaign chairman
Hugh Golson are in the midst
of exciting and dramatic
changes as they prepare to
launch their first fundraising
campaign, "Savannah's Law: A
Community Saves Its
Treasures." The fundraising
campaign kicked off on July
29, 2008 with a reception and
a tour at the Foundation’s head
quarters at 226 Martin Luther
King, Jr. Blvd. at 6p.m. to com
memorate the sixth anniversary
of the death of Westley Wallace
Law. Funds are being raised to
ensure completion of the pro
cessing and archiving of the
civil rights, historic preserva-
