NNPA Editor-in-Chief
WASHINGTON (NNPA) - The Rev. A1
Sharpton, saying “We’ll never have this
opportunity again,” took to the streets for
what appeared to be an emergency cross
country tour this week, hoping to rejuve
nate the Obama excitement that appeared
to have significantly waned after the
Democratic National Convention last
month.
“What we’ve got to tell people is
what’s at stake; that we’re dealing now
with the new unemployment.
Unemployment is higher than it’s been in
four years, we are seeing the education
and health care of our people as worse
than it ever was...We can not afford to
not vote,” Sharpton said in an interview

a new era with the redevelop

A groundbreaking ceremony was
held on Tuesday, September 16,

income redevelopment which will
offer “green” affordable housing.
Residents as well as the environment
will benefit from the energy efficient
heating and air conditioning units
and water heaters.
The new development at the 27-
acre site serves as a principal compo
nent of the City of Savannah’s
Westside Development
Revitalization Plan. Sustainable
Fellwood replaces Fellwood Homes,
the first public housing project in
Savannah.
Sustainable Fellwood is
designed to be a walkable, enjoyable
community that preserves as many of
the mature trees as possible, with
new trees planted as well. The rede
velopment is widely considered a
national showcase for environmen-
tally-responsible community plan
ning.
Savannah area high school and

their stamp on this new community
by entering the Sustainable Fellwood
