Continued on Page 9 Ribbon Cutting Held At Savannah Chatham Manufacturing Center Roland Martin To Speak At Chatham County Voters Rally On Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM at Beth el AME Church, 1814 East 38th Street, a Chatham County “Get Out and Vote” Rally will be held. The guest speaker for the event will be for mer CNN Analyst Roland Martin. The event will be held in conjunction with the Freedom Creek Foundation and Sen. Lester Jackson (D - Savannah) will co-host the nonpartisan rally.” The event will en courage voters in the Cha tham County area to partic ipate in the upcoming 2020 Runoff Election. Roland Martin The Savannah Economic Development Authority, City of Savannah and Chatham County cut the ribbon on the Savannah Chatham Manufacturing Center on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The 744-acre property will accommodate advanced manufacturing with parcels ranging from nine to 100 acres. The Savannah Economic Development Authority’s Savannah Cha tham Manufacturing Center is located 1.8 miles from Interstate 16 and just nine miles west of Interstate 95. At only three miles from the Jimmy DeLoach Connector to Interstate 16 (front door to the Port of Savannah), the Savannah Chatham Manu facturing Center’s proximity to the Interstates and Port of Savannah make it an ideal location to do business. In addition to access to the Port of Savannah, the industri al manufacturing park is a mere 14 miles from Geor gia’s Quick Start Advanced Manufacturing Training Center and 17 miles from Gulfstream Aerospace Cor poration - one of Georgia’s largest manufacturers. Johnson, II, received the 2020 Citizen of the Year award from the Mu Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Mayor Johnson was selected for his contri butions locally, regionally and nationally to combat COVID-19 through city or dinances and being outspo ken about the effectiveness of mask requirements. “I am humbled to be honored by such great men in our community,” said Mayor Johnson. “I ap preciate that they recognize my efforts to make Savan nah safer, equitable and ac cessible for all people.” The fraternity’s Citizen of the Year rep resents a person of local, re gional and international rec ognition who is acclaimed by a significant segment of society for the outstanding contributions to the welfare of humankind who made the most significant contribu tions to humanity. J.C. Lewis Primary Announces Rena M. Douse As New CEO J.C. Lewis Pri mary Health Care Center and its board of directors are pleased to announce Dr. Rena M. Douse has accept ed the position of CEO. In her new role. Dr. Douse will provide detailed oversight, strategy, and vision for the nonprofit organization’s fu ture growth and successful execution of its founding mission to provide afford able health care services to individuals in the Savannah community. Dr. Douse who will assume her new role on January 1, 2021; cur rently serves Chief Op erations Officer for J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center. As Chief Opera tions Officer Dr. Douse has provided oversight of the day to day operations. Dr. Douse’s background in pol icy development, policy improvement, procedure development, the expansion of services, corporate com pliance, Risk Management, and Quality assurance has been very instrumental in the health centers growth and operation. While evaluat ing and overseeing program outcomes and practices, Dr. Douse also functioned as the Health Center’s infor mation technology manager, serving as the administrator for the agency’s Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records systems. “We are confident that Dr. Douse will be an excellent match for this po sition and a strong asset to our organization,” said J.C. Lewis Board Chair Laura N. Wiggins. “She brings a wealth of community health center knowledge and expe rience to this position along with a proven track record of success.” Dr. Rena M. Douse earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Troy University, a Master of Sci ence in Nursing from Geor gia Southern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Armstrong At lantic State University (now Georgia Southern Universi ty)- Dr. Douse and her husband, Marlon Douse, are the proud parents of 4 young men.
