dinner and program
Brookhaven will host
its fourth annual MLK
Day Dinner and Program
at Lynwood Park on
Jan. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at
the historic Lynwood
Community Center, 3360
Osborne Road.
The event will feature
former Lynwood Park
resident U.S. Army Brigadier
General Richard Dix as
keynote speaker, with
additional speakers to be
announced.
CLARKSTON
Active shooter awareness
class scheduled
Clarkston Police
Department is sponsoring
an active shooter awareness
class Jan. 23 at Clarkston
Library at 951 North Indian
Creek Drive in Clarkston.
The class will begin at 6:30
p.m. and participants will be
taught active shooter survival
tactics and techniques. Other
topics include Clarkston
Police preparedness, law
enforcement and first
responder readiness and
physical disaster response.

host its fifth annual career
fair and diversity job
expo Jan. 16. The fair will

Waffle House and other
organizations. Candidates
are asked to come dressed
in interview-appropriate
attire, bring resumes, and be
prepared to speak directly
with employers. The job fair

MLK celebration reaches
35th year
DeKalb County will
host a Martin Luther King
Jr. celebration Jan. 28. The
celebration marks the 35th
time DeKalb has honored the
civil rights activist.
The annual celebration
will be held at the Maloof
Auditorium in downtown
Decatur at 1300 Commerce
Drive.
The title for the celebration
is "King's Vision: Humanity
tied in a single garment of
destiny." A rendering of King
by artist Thomas Evans.
