THE CHAMPION, THURSDAY, AUGUST 8 -14, 2019
By GALE HORTON GAY
School buses rolling through
neighborhoods aren't signs of the
end of summer fun. Yes, it's time for
studying and homework for those in
school, but everyone else can look
forward to outdoor events that take
advantage of late summer's warmth.
Here's a roundup of a few events to
put on one's calendar for August,
September and October:
Music in Chamblee
Sister Hazel, known for country and
alternative hits, is scheduled to perform
6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 as part of Chamblee's
Summer Concert Series. It takes place
at City Hall Park, 5468 Peachtree Road,
Chamblee. Dancing and food are also
part of the concert series.
Tunes and 'Que
Southern favorites barbecue and
music are what draws crowds to
the annual Decatur BBQ Blues &
Bluegrass Festival. The 19th annual
event takes place from 1 to 9 p.m.
Aug. 10. Organizers promise hours
of live blues and bluegrass from
aspiring and accomplished local,
regional and national acts along with
an assortment of Southern barbecue
and plenty of cold beer. New location
this year is Legacy Park, 500 Columbia
Drive, Decatur. Tickets $15. For more
