Robert Olsen murder trial nears close
BY HORACE HOLLOMAN
horace@dekalbchamp.com
It took more than four
years for a jury to hear
evidence regarding the fate of
former DeKalb County police
officer Robert Olsen charged
with the murder of an unarmed
man.
Olsen was indicted by a
grand jury in 2016 for shooting
and killing veteran Anthony
Hill in March of 2015. Hill
was unarmed at the time and
family members said he was
suffering from a mental health
episode. Olsen’s defense

Olsen was charged with
two counts of felony murder,
aggravated assault, two counts
of violation of oath by a public
officer and making a false

old Hill.
Olsen’s defense attorney
Don Samuels said Olsen was
an explementary police officer
with a clean record and no
excessive force reports on his
personal file.
