Former police officer found
not guilty of murder

A jury found former DeKalb
County Police officer Robert
Olsen not guilty of felony murder
for the killing of unarmed veteran
Anthony Hill.
The jury deliberated for
six days before coming to a
unanimous decision of not guilty
on two counts of felony murder.
The jury also found Olsen guilty
of aggravated assault, making
false statements and two counts

Ethics bills ‘problematic’ experts say

DeKalb County voters will have the opportunity to approve changes to the
County's ethics.

In less than a month, DeKalb County voters
will decide whether to approve amendments
that could impact the county’s ethics board.
This year the General Assembly approved
Senate Bill 7, which makes revisions to the
makeup of the county’s ethics board and how
future complaints will be filed. Voters must
approve the bill by a majority vote for SB 7 to
be enacted.

Stonecrest Mayor Jason Lary
Jason Lary : ‘give me
a chance to finish
the work I started’

After two years as mayor of Stonecrest,
Jason Lary said he hopes voters will re
elect him to a full term of four years to finish
the job he started.
Lary was elected as the city’s first mayor
in 2017, shortly after the southeast DeKalb
community incorporated. He said his first
two years in office were focused on building
the city’s foundation, such as forming a staff
and creating a planning and zoning board,
board of appeals and economic development
board.
“It took two years just to get that
going in the midst of an environment that
economically wasn’t the healthiest. But that
was fine,” Lary said. “We had a surplus in
our budget. Now are the building-block-days
for the next four years.”
The “building-block-days” for the city
include creating new jobs and improving
infrastructure, according to Lary. He said the
city has $ 1 billion coming in the next two
to five years, including $100 million in the
