Before presenting a case, please allow the Grand Jurors enough time to be settled and ready to hear the case. In between cases, Jurors are coming in and leaving the room. 8. Please have a microphone ready for the podium as well. Some presenters are soft spoken. 9. Give enough pause when asked if the Grand Jury has any questions after you present a case. It takes a few seconds to digest all the information. 10. Grand Jurors: Do not rely solely on the foreperson to speak on your behalf. Do not be afraid to ask for any of the following: a. Ask questions if you are un clear on anything related to the case being presented, or if you are unclear on a particular law or charge. b. Ask the presenter to speak up if they are soft spoken. c. Ask the presenter to repeat what he or she just said/read if you are unclear or do not un derstand. d. Ask for more time to digest information or ask questions. e. Ask if a presenter uses an acronym that you aren't famili ar with. 11. Presenters: a. Please keep the noise level down in the side room. b. Please remember that we do not do this for a living. We may not understand standard pro cedures or frequently used terms or acronyms. c. Be prepared to present your case, its relevant facts, and any testimony. There were only a few instances where the presenters seemed unpre pared and unfamiliar with the case they were presenting, and were “fumbling around” the file. 12. Maybe put a separate mi crowave in the Juror break room. Some Jurors were un comfortable microwaving their food in front of other Jurors and especially during a case presentation.
