James Island Festival of Lights
The 30th Annual Holiday Festival of Lights in
James Island runs through Dec. 31. It takes place
at James Island County Park in Charleston and
features an estimated two million lights as well
as a holiday sand sculpture. It features train rides,
marshmallow roasting, an “enchanted walking
trail, carousel, gift shops and Santa sweet
shop. It also was named a 2018 Top 20 Event
by the Southeast Tourism Society. For more

Key West Holiday Fest
Santa might arrive by sailboat instead of sleigh,
but visitors can immerse themselves in seasonal
spirit and celebrations during the 2019 Key West
Holiday Fest that runs through Dec. 31. The
festivities begin Nov. 27, with the Lighting of the
Harborwalk at the Key West Historic Seaport.
The harbor walk area will glimmer with holiday
displays throughout the season, all themed to
celebrate Key West’s maritime history including
more than 61,000 lights, 58 lighted palm trees, a
lobster trap holiday tree, a nautically decorated
pine tree and more. Holiday Fest highlights
include:
• Tours of historic lighted inns on two
consecutive Fridays, Dec. 6 and 13. Tickets for
the tours will be available at https://keystix.

• On-the-water enthusiasts can show their
holiday spirit at the 29th annual Schooner
Wharf Bar/Absolut Vodka Lighted Boat Parade
set for 8 p.m. Dec. 14.

Cheekwood Estate and Gardens
Nashville’s Cheekwood Estate and Gardens will
be aglow in lights during the holiday season.
Holiday Lights is one mile of lights, holiday
displays and photo opportunities. It also includes
a reindeer village, decorated mansion, visits with
Santa and dancing lights trains. It runs Nov. 23-
Jan. 5. For more information including ticket

Celebration in the Oaks
Celebration in the Oaks is an annual holiday
festivity in New Orleans. From Thanksgiving
through the New Year, 25 acres on the grounds
of New Orleans City Park are bedazzled with
lights and displays. The Park, Botanical Garden,
Storyland and Carousel Gardens Amusement
Park are decorated with hundreds of thousands
of light to create a winter wonderland in the Big
