After receiving a
demonstration on Georgia’s new
voting procedure and machines
Jan. 9, many seniors at the
Central DeKalb Senior Center
said the new process may be a
bit longer, but may provide less
room for error.
Representatives from DeKalb
County Registration & Elections
were on hand at the Central
Dekalb Senior Center Jan. 9
to brief the senior community
on Georgia’s new paper ballot
system, which will begin use
during the March 24 presidential
preference primary and special
election for DeKalb County
sheriff.
“District 2 has 45 percent of
all the seniors in DeKalb County
and the largest voting population
in the country is always seniors.
It’s important for seniors to
understand this new process,”
Victoria Kingsland, the senior
center’s director, said.
One notable change to
in-person voting is the check
in process, with voters now
checking in with a poll worker
on an electronic pad as opposed
to filling out a voter certificate.
Voters will present their ID to
the poll worker who will verify
the ID. Voters will answer a few
questions and sign the pad before
receiving their voter card.

elections public education
representative, explained the
