Summer employment available
DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural
Affairs is now accepting applications for numerous
summer employment opportunities such as pool
managers, food monitors, camp counselors, and
bus drivers.
Applicants must be age 18 or older to apply
for recreation positions. All applicants selected will
be required to successfully complete a drug and
alcohol screening and criminal background check
prior to employment, stated officials.

Students can compete for a bank account
Third, fourth, and fifth graders in DeKalb Coun
ty have until March 31 to enter Delta Community
Credit Union's youth essay contest to win a $100
Delta Community Youth Savings Account.
To enter, students must submit an essay of 75
words or less answering an essay question. Essays
must be completed and submitted online at Del-
taCommunityCU.com/YouthEssayContest. Seven
student winners from each grade level will be se
lected and announced in April.
DeKalb baseball in full swing
DeKalb high school baseball teams began play
in February and will look to follow in the footsteps
of the county's basketball teams, which won three
state titles from March 5 through March 8 in Ma
con.
Some county teams are usually in action every
day of the week except for Sundays, and region
play is underway throughout the county. For more

Attend a springtime concert
Who's ready for some show tunes? A spring
concert series is coming to Town Green which will
showcase the music of classic Broadway compos
ers and feature some of Atlanta's finest perform
ers, stated officials.
The Spring Musical Series kicks off on March 30
at 6 p.m. at Town Green, located at 64 North Avon
dale Road at 6 p.m. with musicians performing
songs by George Gershwin.

Take a free self-defense course
Registration is underway for free self-defense
classes hosted by the Chamblee Police Depart
ment. These classes are open year-round for pri
vate groups ages 18 and older. Groups must have a
minimum of six people.

Amnesty program available
Doraville's Municipal Court is holding an am
nesty program for individuals with delinquent
traffic citations and/or active bench warrants for
failure to appear in court. Now through April 30, all
contempt fees will be forgiven, and active warrants
will be cleared if fines are paid in full.

DECATUR
Visit Praise House
Artist and activist Charmaine Minnifield is
hosting The Praise House Project in Decatur to cel
ebrate the Black history of the area and the legacy
of Beacon Hill. The public art installation will be on
view from March 30 - June 2, with interior access
on Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 5 p.m.
The opening event is on March 30 from 5 p.m. to
7 p.m. at the intersection of Commerce Drive and
West Trinity Place in Decatur.

Coffee Cart volunteers needed
Soldiers' Angels in concert with the Atlanta VA
Healthcare System announces the return of the
Coffee Cart at Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA
Medical Center located at 1670 Clairmont Road in
Decatur.
Volunteers will brew coffee and provide cups,
stirrers, lids, sweeteners, creamers, napkins, and
a healthy snack when available. They will also be
responsible for setting up and cleaning the area
at completion. Volunteers can sign up for one or
more days to serve. For more information about

Caffeine and Octane car show
Caffeine and Octane is an all makes and all
models car show that regularly attracts more than
650 muscle, classic, high performance and exotic
cars. Attendees will see a new mix of cars every
single month. The show is centrally located at Pe
rimeter Mall just off 1-285.
Caffeine and Octane is a family friendly event
and free to attend for all. It is held from 8 to 11
a.m. on the first Sunday of every month at 4400
Ashford Dunwoody Road in Dunwoody. Visit

STONE MOUNTAIN
Sunrise Easter service
Local pastors will continue the tradition of
hosting an Easter Sunrise Church Service on top of
Stone Mountain on March 31.
Park Gates will open at 3 a.m. and the Summit
Skyride will open at 4 a.m. to take guests to the
summit. Services will begin at 7 a.m. Large crowds
are expected and both services will feature sign
language interpreters for hearing impaired guests.
Vehicle entry to the park is $20 for a one-day
permit or $40 for an annual permit. Church vans
and buses enter free. Skyride fees are $20 for
round-trip and $15 for one-way. There are no fees
for the walk-up trail to the top of the mountain.
